Hello all,
The 2008 goneMOAB schedule is up on gonemoab.com (http://www.gonemoab.com). The website is not totally updated, but that will happen soon. Registration will begin before the end of the year.
You will notice that the trails have been shuffled around a bit. This is due to a couple fresh set of eyes looking at things (thanks Allen and Josh).
There was also a comment that it was difficult to choose what trail was best for them. We are working on better trail descriptions so folks can make more informed choices.
See you in Moab!

I'm surprised to see Flat Iron Mesa in with Cliff Hanger and other difficult runs. I found it to be pretty much a yawn, challenge-wise. The vaunted obtacle on the trail (I forget the name, it's a rock ledge that curves in the middle) was pretty easy both up and down, at least for a long wheelbase.
It seems like there needs to be one more organized run for the easiest tier. There's a nice easy run available that leaves Moab via the road past the potash mine and enters the bottom of canyonlands park that way, then goes onto the first part of White Rim, and you take the first canyon down to the river to a picnic area down there. Very accessible to 2wd trucks and even things like all wheel drive sagwagons. (I don't remember the name of the canyon and my maps and stuff are all at home right now.)
Not intending to criticize, mind you, just offering a suggestion.

We're finding that there's not a lot of necessity for the easier runs. We've spent a lot of time on the schedule. If folks wish to do a different run, they're free to do so.

I believe you are mentioning Schaffer trail to white rim, to Lathrop canyon. Don't forget to stop by muscleman arch near the Lathrop turn off. Schaffer can easily be combined with Long Canyon for a nice loop BTW. That is actually one of my favorite scenic loops.

Yeah, Lathrop canyon, that's the one. I raced a subaru outback up that canyon and on part of white rim. When it came right down to it, I trusted my aftermarket suspension more than he trusted his stock sagwagon parts, so I won. It was really kinda funny, it had turned into a total testosterone thing for this guy, he just couldn't live with the fact that I had passed him on a sandy stretch up lathrop canyon. I was just laughing and toying with him the whole time after that, there wasn't a chance he could really keep up and keep his junk in one piece.
