So my buddy has a '05 XTerra. Wants to get a bumper for it.
Likes the Shrockworks bull bar... and since it's his rig and $$, whatever!
So... what's involved with the install? ie. can a couple of college students (one being a self taught semi-proficient garage mechanic) knock out the install in an afternoon?
Also, any vendors locally or on the net you might recommend besides the manufacturer?

There are detailed install instructions for a shrockworks bumper at thenewx.org under the "how to" section. Take a look at that.

Buy direct from Shrock, there are no vendors that stock them, they are made to order by Shrockworks no matter which way you go and this way you can call Jim and ask for a status update on your order. With any other vendor they aren't going to know. Expect 6-8 weeks, but it's totally worth the wait, ask Jordan :D

Is there an option for the Xterra that is less than a bull-bar but more than a brush-guard??
For people who are familiar with jeeps... more like the warn bumper, or a rokmen style...
Thanks!

About the only options are:
Calmini
ARB
TJM T-17 and T-15
Shrockworks
Custom
They all have advantages and disadvantages and the Shrock's can be ordered with the center hoop and headlight hoops, center hoop only, no hoops, and for a 2"BL.

Custom... about any offroad shop can put a bumper together for 3-600 depending on what you want.

I got a quote from Xtreme Engineering and it was just under $1400. Probably would have been one of the nicest bumpers I've ever seen though.
