Well, here's my ignorance, for lack of a better term. I see these skyjacker shocks on ebay(yea I know) for about 144$ after shipping. It's just the shocks and states it's for a 1986.5-1995 pathfinder/terrano 4x4/2x4. It also says it can give anywhere from 2-4" of suspension lift. I know where the shocks are in the rear as they are really easy to get to. But I still have the stock IDS in front, does that have shocks like in the rear? Or better yet, should I even be THINKING about buyin something like that from eBay

I just put a set of Rancho RS5000 shocks on the front of my wife's Xterra yesterday. I think they usually go for $45 a piece. I get a big discount on that (I work for 4 wheel parts), so if you're looking for some good shocks, maybe a little heavier duty, I'd go with maybe a Rancho RX series, little stiffer (I did the RS for the wifey, she likes the soft ride) and perhaps more apt for off roading.
The fronts do have shocks, but they have a spike at the top, loop at the bottom. You'll get a bit more travel out of the stock Independent Front Suspension (IFS) if you get some low profile bump stops for the front as well. The tires will droop a bit more (= good!) going over obstacles.

Sounds good. I take it they aren't that hard to install? Maybe an hour or 2? And do the Rancho RS5000's give that kinda lift? And how much would it be for a person that doesn't work at 4wheel parts :P

shocks don't give you lift. you get lift from taller coils (rear) or tightening the torsion bars (front).

How do you tighten the torsion bars? And do you lose smoothness of the ride?

yes, it will get stiffer. to me, i really didn't think it was that bad, and i had no front sway bar so having it a little stiffer was a good thing.
i think there's a write up on here on cranking t-bars, try a search.

I looked at the How-To and it just had the t-bar for an X...dunno if it would be the same?

Pretty much.

It would be the same? Or close to? I guess if I needed help doin it I could just ask. My biggest fear is that it would stiffen up a lot compared to where I am right now...cuz for an suv with 31" tires with over 200,000 miles...it runs very smooth on the highway.

it won't be too much different. and if you don't like it, you can always put it back.

I read it wrong from the get go. It is shocks for the pathfinder WITH 2-4" of lift. So with mine being with no lift I would just go with the regular 0-1" lift shocks right? Cuz I found some Rough Country Hydro 8000's or Nitro 9000's on eBay with the 0-1" lift. About 137$ for all 4
