What's up everyone?
The name's Tanner, and I've had my 2003 Frontier KC SC 4x4 for about a month now. Coming off a 96 Ford Explorer with a salvage title, the Frontier blows the doors off the Ford - well maybe 3 of em, the 4th door wouldn't open! :roflmao:
I'm trying to mod when I get money, but am down for hitting up some easier trails in Northern CO in the meantime - send me a PM!
Thanks to Neight for the referral over here - seems like a great spot for specialized and local info. Peace!

welcome, id be down to make a run or two before the weather gets nasty, the closest trails in this area are gonna be kelly flats or sevenmile. you could prob do kelly but would have to take the bypass around heart attack hill but its def doable

i'll go wheeling with you. my favorite way to do kelly flats is to go up the bypass and down heart attack hill. you could definitely make it going that way

Thanks for the warm welcome! I just looked up some info on Kelly Flats, and from the pics I saw, that looks a bit too gnarly for my rig right now - it's pretty stock and I haven't even got skids on it yet (damn car payments!) I've been looking at places like Ballard Road, Storm Mountain, or similar. I dunno, maybe all the pics I saw were from this Heart Attack Hill you speak of.

Heart Attack hill is gnarly. Never been on it...but look at the friggin name! Ben Tyler trail is aight...it's short but fun. Kenosha has a few fun trails...just gotta get up there. I have a basically stock pathfinder and I do just fine. 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 off road edition high centered on a boulder that I didn't...and I have no lift.

Welcome over bro. I think we should definitely try to plan a Kelly Flats run, been wanting to do that for a while.
Hey Kevin, can I get like some cool prize for bringing these people over? This is like the 3rd one in a month!

Ballard Road is a total snoozer - don't waste your time. Moody Hill is pretty easy, and crystal mountain is a lot of fun. Haven't been up either this year though.

Maybe I'll just do a quick runout to one of the "snoozers" some afternoon just to guage where the comfort level is sitting. Besides, if it's flatter, it allows me to drive faster. :D

The majority of Moody is pretty easy but the top rock quarry is fun. I'm not sure I'd take most stock vehicles through it but my friend got through it in his stock 100 series cruiser. With a little bit of body damage anyway.

I honestly don't think Kelly flats is that hard. You would definitely want sliders and you would be fine as long as you go with someone that moderately knows what they are doing. Kelly flats is by no means a hard trail if you don't want it to be is what I am trying to say. There are even bypasses on the bypass

There really are bypasses to the bypass?

yeah if you go up the right side bypass instead of up heart attack you can go around the tougher obstacles on the bypass

Any stock vehicle can make it up kelly flats well except a ford sporttrack. The part which takes lockers or skill is heart attack hill. I'd love to ride along or take the jeep with you guy's if Saturday is a go. (the nissan is still awaiting new springs)
Welcome to the forum glad to have ya !!!!!!

Right on, I'm just trying to protect my investment while it's still armorless, ya know? Once I get some skid plates and sliders, I'm sure I'll feel a lot better about rolling on bigger terrain - I put a pic of the truck up - the camera phone quality is crap, but it does the job until I find a digital camera.
Curly, I think I've seen your rig around FC - that stinger is outta control!

Thanks man... One of my favorite all time most scenic trails is Old Flowers road. It is fun long and truly a scenic drive with mild terrain and a hard core spot at the very end (optional).

I think I saw that entry on 4x4Trails.net - what's the one way distance?

You can do it as a loop with Monument gulch road and Buckhorn Canyon. That is the way I Mountain bike it (about a 30 - 35 mile Mt. Bike loop). Old Flowers portion is probably 10 - 15 miles. It is one of my favorite spots to run too.
