So my issue is when i put my x in reverse and start moving back and then turn the wheel I get a small popping sound in the front. The popping sounds only happens when I reverse with the wheel turned at slow speed and the popping sound is only a pop or two. I have a calmini lift on my xterra if that makes a difference. I was thinking that it maybe the U joint or something with the axle. Do you think that it could be because my front shocks are shot (waiting on new ones) and is making the suspension weaker? Its just a guess, don’t know to much about cars. If any with knows the problem or knows of a place that can check it out for me for cheap, that would be awesome. I took my x to a dealership to see if they can see what the problem was and they said it would cost me $140 just to check the problem, who knows how much it would cost to repair. Thanks for the help

loud popping like a cracking or low thud?

my HB does it too. kind of a popping/screeching sound. I've heard but still haven't tried it but was told to check the torque on the bolts on the front crossmember(that your controlarms hang from, the bolts just inside of the lowerc-arm).

That's what I was told to do with my pathfinder with a low thud in the front.

Yeah, it would be like a low thud sounding.

just by new manual hubs and put them on yourself, they are like 140 or something

Thanks.

So if the hub is broke, does it not get the full spin when it is open/not in four wheel drive and that makes the thud/popping sound? Sorry, just trying to get more educated
