Sounds great I want to make it this year so dates would be good for time off.
Italian creek.
Longer trip could be Crested Butte to Gothic and over Schofield Pass to Marble. That's a hell of a run. Nice break at Emerald Lake before the pass too.

Hopefully work won't be too crazy then, or else they won't give me a week off. But I'd love to go.
Will I make it in stock? or do I need to budget some upgrades for this year?

More than likely around the Conifer area just off Highway 285
Let me know dates, and what mods necessary... im in! my buddy has a f150, and its lifted, do we welcome anything other than nissan?

Requirements
** Sliders/Rocker Protection
** AT or MT Tires
** Street tires are NOT permitted
** Keep in Mind this is a Nissan Event. I think we should take a page from AZ Run... it is primarily Nissan but I dont see a need to turn away others.

Ok here are th trails that I would say are not Full Size Freindly.
*Radical Hill there are a few tight turns but a couple point turn it is not an issue
*Wheeler Lake same thing, a really tight turn near the lake
*Old Chinamans Gulch... this would be at full size Discretion I have seen em up there
*Grizzly Lake.. the entrance may be an issue for longer wheel bases Depends on how it looks this year.

another question is there a charge for entry to any of these places what about camping fees?
Alpine Spirit
01-17-2008, 05:06 PM
This is the beauty of Colorado... all these trails are in the National Forest and the camping is in the National Forest as well and not in camp areas.
Hence then name Rendezvous - Annual Gathering of like minded folks out in the middle of the mountains, have some fun on the trails, explore the mountains, and share some stories around the camp fire at night.

*Old Chinamans Gulch... this would be at full size Discretion I have seen em up there (Done it. Although it took off the stock 7pin trailer wireing port. And Good time for a move-it-to-the-bumper mod. Also peeled off some rubber on the brush guard, but meh.)

Well, my Colorado Nissan bretheren, it looks like making Ronin 2008 is on my to do list for sure. My buddy is getting married May 24, which makes goneMoab pretty much a no-go. I would like desperately to see CO backcountry anyway, since I punked out on moving out there.
Anyway, I'm gonna watch this thread because I wanna be there pretty damn bad.

Just read through this again and Thought you should add recovery points front and rear as a requirement. Most people should have them but I just watched the stupid jeep guy vid again.
Hey, I was just thinking... I can probably get a day or two off in August, but not a week. I might just be able to join you all for Sunday, all the trails look fun to me. Then I'll do Georgia Pass on Monday with everybody, get onto 285 and head home. Will that be OK? Or will everybody hate me for the rest of their lives and burn down my X? :)
P.S. I'll be able to do radical hill in stock X, right?

Anything I can put my new lift to the test with. The real bitch is I still need to invest in the shrock armor for my underside. Thats a good $700 right there with shipping added on. I still need a new front recovery point since I had to remove the stock one when I installed that damn brush guard (Moved it to the rear so no big deal back there). Grrr, so much shit to do and I don't even have a job anymore.

LETS DO THIS GUYS IM READY AND IM CRAZY AND I WANT TO HAVE FUN AND CAPS IS THE CRUISE CONTROL OF AWESOMNESS.
I'd love to meet up with some of you guys. I wanna find some trails around Colorado or surrounding states that involve offroading + camping then more offroading :) Definately psyched.
This sounds like lots of fun.
Don't know that I could get that off of work. - tough to take a whole week off again. I am taking off a week in June to go up to Yellowstone.
I don't know how comfortable I would be doing any serious trails without armor. Sliders would also have to be put on my rig.
I will have Michelin LTX A/T2's though so that should suffice :P
Lots I will need to do to my rig but not sure if I can afford it this year. I'm sure I'll end up meeting some of you guys before then though.

2008 raises the bar some...
* 4x4 is a requirement, Sorry 2 wheel drive vehicles will NOT be permitted.
* SLIDERS, The rocker protection is a real benefit in Colorado. But if you show up with out em and damage is your problem.
* RECOVERY POINTS, Both front and rear make sure they are solid.
* VEHICLE IN GOOD REPAIR
* INTACT TOP, Or integrated roll bar of some nature.
* STANDARD SAFETY EQUIPMENT, Seat Belts, Working Lights and the such.
* FULL SIZE SPARE, Vehicles without spares will NOT be permitted.
And most of the trails with big rocks we dont try and stradle em... you put your tire on em. Prevents damage to vital parts. Sliders would be more important than the skid plates in my opinion, we can then "slide your truck of the the larger rocks on the bars.

Well I would be up for the pre-run on an easier trail. I don't know that I can get much done to the X this year to get it more ready for the harder stuff. I also couldn't get the whole time off - maybe a couple days and meet up somewhere. Maybe ride along with someone on a trail. But I can take cool pics for everyone :)

The frontier would be more comfortable, but the Toy would be more fun.
The toy also only gets up to about 50mph so the long trip would be really long.

Of course you can come!!
If you bring the trailer I will changed the loop around some on the first day. For the most part we will be base camping and heading out from there. So we could go to the camp drop our stuff. Then take off to hit the trails, really a minor change and we wouldnt have to hit the trails loaded down.
Mosquito Pass it will be fine on and Tin Cup pass it will be fine on.

No worries, I have no problem taking the trailer anywhere, just tend to go slower then most. So don't change the trails on my account. And yes Porthos will be coming.

** Solid Front and Rear recovery points REQUIRED!!

Something I can put a strap or winch on and its not coming off. The front typically has a strong hook, the rear is lacking but in a bind I can hook to the rear spring shackles, but a hook on the back is better.
