Anyone remember the T-5 transmission that Bach built a year or so ago? It's a completely rebuilt T-5 transmission out of a 300zx, wich the output shaft swapped for a Jeep T-5. This allows you to bolt up ANY 6-bolt transfer case directly to the transmission. No adapters necessary!!!

This thing is BRAND NEW. It's obviously an old transmission but the internals are all new. I don't think Bach ever even got to run it.

This is an awesome design for someone looking to run a D300 or even a doubler. I was intending to use it but I'm hurting for cash so bad right now I'm trying to get rid of some of my aftermarket parts I've had sitting here for a few months.

$300

It's got me thinking...

What would be involved putting this in a 92 Pathy?

What are the specs on the tranny?

My current 5 speed is making funny noises AND I want lower gears/doubler.

Geesh, I wish I knew what he did to get the different output shaft in there. Was there a machine shop involved?

I wouldn't buy this transmission unless you would consider yourself able to do a lot of fabrication work. The transmission will bolt up to the engine block, and that's about it. You'll have to work out the shifter situation inside the vehicle, make a new transmission mount, put in a new transfer case, and possibly new front and rear drivelines depending on the t-case setup you intend to run.

I might be on a deal with someone for the transmission right now, but I'll keep this thread updated.

I'm considering it because there dosen't seem to be any other way to bolt up a different transfer case.

Most of the mods needed to bolt this up are probably not a big deal since my truck is going into the shop soon for new rear 4 link and new front radius arms. I'm probably going to sell my existing tranny mount with integrated radius arms (Bronco style). I would rather do this all at once. I'm curious as to the gear ratios this tranny has? It may not be do-able if the ratios are too high.

Let me know on the status as I'm still interested.

Any chance you need some nice radius arms? I've got a set of Cage arms I'm trying to sell that are BRAND NEW.

Ha ha! I saw that!

Nope, I'm going completely custom for everything these days. The stock stuff just dosen't cut it anymore and hasn't been any cheaper. My new arms will be longer, adjustable for castor, wristed and have a slight bend so I can get my turning radius back! :bannana:

Kind of desperate to sell this...all 3 potential buyers are no longer interested. I bought some stuff thinking this was sold, so I need to try and re-gain some funds! All offers are considered...I need this sold today!

The gearing is just too tall for me but I'm suprised no one has grabbed this up?!

If you had 5.38 diff gears you could slap an Atlas 4speed on this tranny for a perfect setup!:twocents:

Bump for ya, I wasnt aware that you were selling it. I want to see someone run it! This was professionally put together by this place http://www.alltransparts.com/index.php if you would like to know more about it contact Bruce there. I am sure he remembers it, He has built a couple hybrid T-5s similar to this before.

There is no custom parts in this tranny, uses either Jeep or Nissan 300z parts through-out. $400 is a deal really considering it was $650 for a couple parts and labor for the shop to build it, I also have a couple hundred miles of driving to get a pair of trannies.

Thanks Bach I was about to send you a PM and see if you could send me some details. There's a guy on another board that wanted a T-5 for his Jeep and I'd assume he could just swap out the bellhousing for the correct one...not sure on that though.

I'd like to run it and was planning on it, especially since my current transmission is in really rough shape but I'm afraid it won't handle 350hp very well. If I was still running a VG I'd put it in right away.

I know I still owe you a few bucks for shipping. I haven't forgotten. :)

I think that came out to $40 or so, As for putting it in a Jeep he will also have to swap the input shaft.

Why don't one of you VG guys have this yet? Keep your VG motor but hook up a 6bolt case or two?

tmorgan4
05-06-2008, 06:09 PM
I'm wondering the same thing....at 1/3 the price of the NWF adapter it seems like a no brainer.

I'll make someone a good deal. Get in contact and we can work something out. I don't have room to for it.

i would buy it from you right now, would have when it was 600, but its just the distance issue...

Shipping was not as expensive as you might think when it got sent out here. Lets work something out. It's already in a well built shipping crate too.

ChefTyler

Because it won't work as simply as you think...

tmorgan4

I'm confident that it will work as simply as I think.

With all the work people are going to be doing by adding a second case and new crossmember and new drivelines, why is installing a new transmission and t-case (or two) such a big deal?

After what I've been working on for the last 10 months, this does seem pretty "simple".

tbecktold
05-07-2008, 07:49 PM
I think I know basically what you're doing, but did you ever do a build thread anywhere? It'd be cool to see.

And I agree, people are spending tons of money and time on SAS'ing and going for doublers etc, when running this could be done just as simply. Right?

tmorgan4

$275!!!!!!!!!!!!

Black Pathfinder

Because it won't work as simply as you think...

Why not? Transmission was professionally built by a shop that specializes in T-5s, its not the first hybrid transmission they built. Its just a matter of changing out some Jeep parts for Nissan ones. At this point I want it back just to prove it but I no longer have any Nissan stuff, nor do I plan on ever getting any again.

This is why aftermarket companies wont support Nissan owners, Too many people are too damned scared to try something new. Nissan owners always talk about having a different rig then everyone else, now is your chance. Or would you rather by a part for 3x the price and be like all the rest of the Nissan guys?

Oh yeah, c'mon in and post a blanket insult or two against all Nissan owners, that's sure to speed up the sale of that ARB you're looking to unload.
