Here is my latest truck mod. Now I can tap a keg in the back of the truck and not end up with beer all down the side. Sweet, huh? :beermug:

A gate valve isn't really the best beer dispensor. From the glint of blue in the background I'm guessing you mounted a 7 gallon water jug under the bed? If so, that's encouraging to me, in that I was planning on putting a battery box there; if you can fit a big water jug I'll probably fit a battery box.

That's sweet! I was thinking of using an actual tap on the side of my rig, but don't know how friendly the local police would be to seeing that in Moab. Maybe if I labeled it Water, but the Shiner tap handle would probable give it away.

DH guessed it. I guess he knows I am full of shit. :)
My water tank is installed and functioning. Needs some finishing touches, but it is ready to "field test". ;)

I went with a standard 7 gallon Reliance container. It will be easy and inexpensive to replace if it gets damaged. All of the fittings were adapted to the fill cap. The only change to the container itself was to shave most of the threads off of the vent. I clamped the drain hose to that, so smoothing off the threads was necessary to get it to seal.

Is that an exhaust pipe that is running right next to the water tank?
If so, will it get hot enought to do some damage to the plastic of the water container?

How do you get the water to flow...looks like the spout is on top...hmmmm...compressed air? CO2?

Just re-read the description  looked to me like he used the OEM pour spout to run to the tap and then used the vent as a drain/clean port. And my brain is a little fuzzy today :D

Ian, isn't that a ball valve? Not a gate valve? I think it looks pretty cool!
Good work bro!

Hasn't yet. I plan to add to the heat shield just in case the tank or muffler were to shift out of position for some reason.
For what it's worth, the outside of the glass pack does not get very hot at all. The only part that gets hot is the outlet.
I will also be welding a tab to the slider. I will drill the tab and the handle so that I can pin it closed for safety.
I added guarding to the drain hose by adding a garage door spring over the hose and clamping it in place.
I still need to secure the fill hose and add a filter screen to the vent hose.

Yeah, it is a ball valve. I also misspelled dispenser. (I should probably spend more time working and less time trying to make "just one quick comment" when I'm at work.)
I was kind of wondering about the venting system. I wonder if an aquarium airstone would make a good filter screen for it?

No Ian, you have to spend mor time commenting and LESS time working. :)
I was wondering about the venting too. I think a really small check valve, and a mushroom vent would be good. Also, I would add a cap to the end so your water is not dirty. But then again, we are all men, so give me the dirt.

That's what I had in mind, but somethig bigger. Maybe a sintered brass filter.
I fill it with a garden hose. When it is full, water comes out the vent, so I can't route it into the cab as originally planned.
I'll post more pics in a bit.

Another view of the sillcock. It used to have a threaded end, but I stubbed it off with a saw.
