looks good.
how's that hi pinion diff going to clear the oil pan?
Ryan Gee
12-11-2006, 09:15 PM
The axle is two inches wider with the same short side length as my pathy. So it "should" clear. May have to get a little creative with the exhaust though...

Battery under bed mod... there is one battery under each side.
There is some cleaning up to do, however the basic idea is there.

nice.
I think you need longer u-bolts
Ryan Gee
01-17-2007, 01:46 PM
I did have blocks on the back, these new 6 inch lift springs changed it. Now those bolts are really long!!! Time to get some new units bent... keep these around for spares.

Looks great. I want to add a second battery some where. My glasspack is right about there. I could squeeze it in but the heat would be bad. I was thinking about squeezing under the hood. I want to get a ready welder one day so I need 24V.
Are You going to move the muffler farther back? Like after the axle?
Ryan Gee
01-17-2007, 06:21 PM
The exhaust is definatly going to have to be moved around.
This thing has a long way to go...........

Orbit Eye shackles.....

Those are nice. I should have used those up front as my rear hanger. Iguess I could use them out back.
Ryan Gee
01-18-2007, 11:30 PM
Ya, I am thinking alcan may get a call down the road for some front springs. Some orbit eye springs with the eye in the rear may work good. That little extra width that Calmini put in these front shackles should make room for the alcan orbit eye. They are a little wider than the all pro units.
Packman5280
01-19-2007, 09:13 AM
so do you have to use a different bushing in the leaf eye to make up for the extra width of the orbit eye or what?
Alpine Spirit
01-19-2007, 09:17 AM
They way I understand it is the orbit eye is basically the bushing. Uses all of that space.
Packman5280
01-19-2007, 09:41 AM
right but I thought it was wider, that's why Ben had to mod his hanger to fit them, so how to you get the shackle tight on the leaf then?
Ryan Gee
01-19-2007, 02:57 PM
That little extra width that Calmini put in these front shackles should make room for the alcan orbit eye. They are a little wider than the all pro units.
The All Pro orbit eye is normal width..the Alcans are wider. The Alcan is in the spring the All Pro is not.
I don't know how much I like the idea of All Pro's on the front. The springs will move side to side with the arch of the shackles. Alcan style the springs will tend to stay in line with the vehicle.
