i think im going to check out the difference between red and blue. both geminin bridges and cliffhanger sound good, but im not quite sure where me/my truck are at on this trail system.

There's a world of difference between cliffhanger and gemini bridges. I'd drive the family sagwagon to gemini bridges (many do). I have no real interest in cliffhanger, because I'm bad with heights. Hardcore obstacles in the middle of a shelf road that's 500 feet above the river just don't do it for me (those same kind of obstacles without the 500' drop rule, though).

Well...way to enlighten me on that one Hippie...no f***ing way I would do cliffhanger. I can't even handle going up the curvy road to the Cave of the Winds in C.Springs...:errr:

Thats the same thing I was saying to Ryan a little while back on IM. I told him I wasn't to sure about that trail. Maybe it because I looked at this picture.

I'm doing this trail for sure! Gotta get the truck finished before I start a schedule that far out though. That's like 5 months away.

The best part about that kinda trail is you don't have to wear seat belts. Held in by the cushion sucked up your arse....

I hope to be running the Hard/Extreme trails...

You should come run Italian Creek with me sometime. I think this trail is right up your alley. ;)

The whole road shifts, moves and vibrates as you drive on it. And yep... thats about 1000' of boulder straight down. So you dont want to get to close to the edge... Erik did 5 years ago.... and scared the SHIT out of us when a boulder let loose under his tire and careened down the side of the mountain.
I have not decided what trails I am going to run yet but I know I will be there.

So say I were to come down for half the run or so, what should/could I run with an SAS'd 2wd (locked rear) lwb HB on 33s? I was thinking Sunday through Tuesday but am not set on that. Not even set on going, I'll be graduating from college about two weeks after the run so am not sure if I'd even be able to come down, just looking for input I guess.

You can probably run all of the medium runs but it's hard to say. The rock is very sticky but that doesn't mean it's a 2wd run through the park. I would really recommend you come with it put together as a 4x4 not 2x4. Moab has alot of fun challenges and I'd hate to see ya miss them cause of a missing driveshaft.

Unless my tax returns are HUGE (not happening) it'll be 2wd for awhile, whether or not I can afford the trip down. I might try to drive it down and then just ride with somebody else on the trails, not sure.

OK I went through and had a look at alot of the trails.... Green of course you could do.
Gemini Bridges you can do, Hey Joe I think so.
Fins N Things there are a few step that no 2wd could get up and there is Kenny Climb on the back a 2wd can not get up, 4wd normally have some trouble at times.
Seven Mile Rim most of it can be done in 2wd but there is a steep step up onto an off camber section that a 2wd can not make it up.
Kane Creek nope... sorry no 2wd here either due to steps.
All of those trails you need to have at least 1 front tire turning to get the front end up onto the rocks. No amount of push from the rear will compensate for that.

The web site rejected my sign up as spam, despite trying 3 times - I guess I won't be registering. I'll just show up and hope there is room on the trail runs. I plan to show up Tuesday night and run Flatiron Mesa, Seven Mile, and Kane Creek.

So is there a list online or somewhere of the trails around here and their color. I dont even know what all the colors mean unless it is like related to ski trails at all although I havent heard anybody say "this trail is a black diamond" so be ready to poop your pants. I am really quite the newb to wheelin really. I just would like a list so I can decide and know what trails my truck can handle this summer. My truck is stock except for 31" BFG's so no real big help there. Since my truck is stock I dont rock crawlin, I like muddy trails anyway. Thanks for any help.

Link to the trails. (http://www.gonemoab.com/schedule.htm) The color coding is fairly simple.

Fins N Things is a must ... if you are doing Gemini Bridges you just as well do Bull Canyon as well its right there and you can get under the bridges with a 400 foot hike.

All Reds more than likely with the exception of Moab Rim and Kane Creek. But my schedule is up in the air since it depends on the trails that need a trail leader.
