So I started having this issue with my 2000 xterra, while in 4 wheel and accelerating my steering wheel turns 90-180degrees to the right. I thought it was a bad axle, or a warn out hub. Swapped out a left side CV axle no change. I have warn hubs and got the warrantied through car quest, but again no change. I need to go solid but dont have the $ any ideas.

Need more information. What tires, sizes, what conditions are you engaging, does it do it with one hub locked (then try the other side), that kind of stuff.

my pathy would do that when the steering was shot, on slick roads especially

my 2002 xterra does that too. It does it when I lock my front hubs and put it in 4wd. I have the Warn hubs, SLR steering, and I run both 32" and 33" tires, and it does it with either set. It does it on dry roads, in the snow, or on wet roads. just any time I put it in 4WD I am not sure why its doing it. Its not an alignment issue cause its fine in 2wd.

LOL, yeah, i know, we're talking about nissan's here. but my honda does it and it's got even less twist power than the nissan.

no, deffinitly not torque steer. The wheel actualy turns to the right with resistance, like change lanes pull, or through the shoulder in the snow. Good stuff. But I kind of think weak steering, is the problem. Would there be anything in the front diff that would cause this? I had it on a lift at work, and the 4 wheel drive seemed fine. The open differential seemed to work fine with resistance against the tires. Witch Im running the Big Foot XT 33\12.50. I put these on, in april last year. I saw snow and we wheeled slaughter house in the snow around the same time and never had the problem. I actualy had to pull over on the shoulder on 470 and sante fe, to disenguage the hubs and run 2wd at 6 am the other day.

Try this: Put it in 4Lo. Pull the e-brake. Drive forward a bit and let off the gas, allowing it to stop because of the e-brake. Shut off the engine.
Get out and look at the front tires. Are they toed-in toward each other? If so, your center link (at least) is shot.
This is the best way I know of to diagnose this condition.

I did that put it in 4 lo thing, and the tires were not towed in. I drove it in 4hi around town for a bit, and found out that untill I hit 40mph, it pulls, but 40 and above and its fine. Maybe this might help with a diagnosis. also I know that my SLR idler bushings are shot and still need to be replaced, but I don't think that ammount of play would cause all that pull.
