ok so when o/d is on i have no gears at all and when o/d is off i have 1, 2, and rev. drove 1 hour home yesturday nite in 2nd gear....sux. also i had some power problems before this started. my alt wasnt powerin my truck and my battery died a few times so i did what any reasonable somewhat drunk person would do and hit the shit outta the alternator and wholla it started workin. coincidence that i had power problems then my tranny starts actin up? im pretty sure the trannys gone but i would like to try somethin quick and easy before replacin the tranny. im still not really that mad cause i had a flippin blast yesturday!!!!! well time to powerwash the 250# of mud off the undercarage....

If it's an auto and you took it muddin, you've fried the tranny. Ask Ryan about it :D

ryans died after crawling, was spewing fluid for a while then blew up. well, one of them anyway, pretty sure he's killed several.

see my fluid level is the same as it was before i went wheelin(check all fluids when i fill up) and i never heard and thuds. i did smell a hint of cluch burnin(flywheel?torque converter?) early in the day. my shifting b/t 1&2 is good but my truck just wont hit third. almost as if i have only 2 gears. it doesnt even try to upshift past second and i have no gears if OD is on. strange. im wrenchin on it now that i got the 6" layer of mud offa it.

Ryan blew through 2, I think it was, auto trannies before he switched over to a manual and hasn't looked back since.

i heard a few guys blowing them up, and overheating/crap about these autos, so i switched to manny first before doing anything to it...

i want to go to a manual for many reasons includin i hate autos(too many user UNFRIENDLY parts) and this is my 1st automatic vehicle but i dont have the $ for that now. i figure $300 (Sam) for an auto is a safe bet untill i go SAS + im gettin a lift from him for a "few" xtra $$$. figure if i got the front end ripped off when i sas her i might as well replace the tranny (again). well pendin Sams reply ill be doin an A/T swap in the next few weeks and i do need lots of help. ive replaced pretty much every part of any given vehicle except trannys b/c i didnt want to nor do i want to change mine but it is what it is. god im dreadin the swap......but it will be a learnin experience!!!! i learned long ago to think positive or else your screwed. so fun times on the trails and funner times to come with a tranny swap!!!!!!

A manual tranny swap isn't really that expensive...I'm just sayin :D

if i get a manual outta the JY im gonna need someone to run through it. also pathys are rare out here. ive seen 4 in the JY in the past 3 months.....all autos anyway. i figure $300 for an AT is cheaper than gettin a manual from a JY(if i can find one it will be no less than $150) and then havin someone tear it down and rebuilt. me and sammy have "closed" the deal. hopefully ill be gettin the parts in 3 weeks or so dependin on how quick i can get the $$$ together. anyone who has some tips on changin an AT on a 92 pathy let me know. i still need it to putt around town so i cant drop the tranny yet. ill probably drop it bout a week before i get the new one.
