If you have one which one and why did you pick that one? Any suggestions as to which one to get? And more more question my aftermarket deck (Pioneer) is sat ready what would i have to get/do to use it as the receiver instead of using an FM transmitter one?
Thanks

I have Sirius and I love it. I've listened to XM and was not impressed with the music choices they had over the span of a few days. The Sirius costs more per month though.
To eliminate an FM transmitter you have to get a different unit made by your headunit's company. At least this is how it is with Alpine, and they're expensive.
Right now I still have the stand alone satellite receiver/FM transmitter and it has worked alright. I've recently bypassed the FM transmitter part though, and the sound quality has improved a bit. It's just nice not having the hassle of finding a different FM station as you move around the state.

I got Sirius for both me and the wife. Why? Simple at the time they were offering a lifetime subscription, the music was better, and no commercials at all on the music stations.
ETA: I won the XM radio and GONE two years ago, but traded for the Sirius unit that was up for grabs in the drawing because of the above reasons.

My old XM reciever had a headphone jack in the side which I used to run a tape adapter. Got rid of it when they started playing commercials. I wouldn't sign up for either if it were me.

Most of the plug and play units have a line out that utilizes the 1/8th headphone jack.

As Tyler said it does use a headphone style input usually to RCA AUX I have my Ipod on ipod link and have my XM on AUX input it is much better than the FM setup. I like my XM I got pissed off because they started playing comercials but they gave me 4 free months. So I took it and now there merging so it really doesnt matter. Walmart had the best price on the Delphi that I got for the wifes car. I would shop crutchfield they tell you what decks have what and how much the ipod cables and the sat. radio receivers are for the decks. Even if you don't buy from them they are always a good to look.

I already have a deck that is sat ready, I was wondering what I needed to make it work.

What model Pioneer deck do you have? Since it's SAT ready, all you need is the brain and an antennae. But, here's the tricky bit, my wife has a SAT ready Pioneer unit and I went the brain route so that she'd only have to control one thing, but I can't stand the way the Pioneer interfaces with the brain...clumsy at best.
I have the Sirius One plug and play unit for myself that I take between trucks (I have an antennae mounted in each) and it works great. I use the FM modulator in my Chevy and use the Aux input on my Pioneer head unit in the X. Here's the kicker...the wife wants to get rid of her setup (well keep the head unit but get rid of the Sirius brain) and get a plug and play unit that she can plug into the aux input on her head unit specifically because the interface is so clumsy.

I sell them both and listen to them all day long. I would sirius any day. Oh wait, that was one of my christmas gifts, i need to hook that up! If there is a sirius unit operational at work, it will always be playing. The only thing our roadshop plays is sirius.

I have a Pioneer XM tuner you can have for $25.00. It plugs into all XM Ready Pioneer head units. You can use the stereo controls to control XM just like you do with FM/AM. I will post the model tonight if you are interested. It plugs into the cd changer port. if you have a cd changer, you plug it into the xm tuner.
I removed it because the Xterra is not driven much & I switched to the Inno portable so I could have 1 subscription for 2 vehicles. The XM tuner has better better sound than the portable.
Let me know if you want it.

Yes, they merged. I have listened to both and was far more impressed with Sirius than XM. The reception difference is amazing. A friend has Sirius in his Heep. In his garage (door closed), hard top on, and antenna under the nylon wrap on the roll cage. I was impressed.
As for your head unit, look at http://www.crutchfield.com to see what you can do for a Sirius receiver so that you don't have to use FM modulation. I think the kits are $100.
My Vote: Sirius! When it is time to do the stereo in the X, that is what she will get.

I say go with the built in unit. It will be cleaner and better sounding because the fm transmiter isn't as good. With the pioneer xm or sirus adapter you just hook it up to your pioneer deck and will be user friendly and get a better reception

Cleaner? Yes. Sound better? Nope. He's going to use the aux out on the PnP unit and go into his Aux in on the head unit. Not to mention, the SAT controls when using your head unit are absolute crap compared to the direct controls of a PnP unit.
