Ian, are we still good to go for the 9th (this Sunday)?
SMR, is that a good day for you to head up and get your lift set up?

Anyone else that's helping out, does that day work for you?

Since I don't get to every thread, where is this taking place, ie - town location?

SMR

It's in Wheatridge, Sheridan-ish and Colfax-ish.

As far as I'm concerned the more the merrier, but that's an Ian call as it's his place.

ETA: correct city, thanks Neight :D

I'd feel pretty safe in saying Ian has the nicest driveway in a 5 mile radius of lakeside. :) My guess would be that he'd like to minimize it as a "social" event since that always seems to decrease productivity. But it's his call and I'm sure he'll pipe in soon.

Too many hands = less productivity.

Well, I would like to help SMR out as previously stated about a month ago. I feel 100% confident with my BL capabilities so I would love to help.

Additionally, since my X is not running all pretty, I would have another X or two there where I can take measurements of wiring. I know that Ian has $150 of wire and accessories at his place awaiting my truck's arrival. I think it is time I go over there, measure the things up and pay him as he has been patiently waiting. I do not fully trust my X although it hasn't given me any problems lately, I would feel safer rolling with SMR instead as we planned earlier, I could help out with the BL and do my wiring measurements and give Ian the money for the parts that he has at his place.

This of course is all pending Ian's approval. Either way Ian, I would like to come over there soon and pick up that stuff. Preferably with another X there to take measurements.

Sunday it is. If the bulk of what we're doing is swapping Tyler's lift from one rig to another, a few extra people probably won't hurt.

James, are you talking about trying to build all the wires for your rig by measuring it all out on someone else's, then you take all the pre-built cables away with you? That sounds like a kind of bad idea to me. It'd be better to just get yours up here and custom install the wiring and battery tray and all right into it. Don't worry about the money, I have far more $hundreds loaned out to various people in the form of parts right now than your $150 worth of wire and stuff; I'm not short on money these days.

Here's where I'm at, for those who haven't been there before:

James, I could get the carhualer and take your X up there if you don't trust it. Let me know.

Well, I guess I could throw my X together and try driving it there.

Ian-I have and have had the money, it is just a matter of feeling ok about my x making it or not.

Woody, I will keep in touch on that matter. I have to pull my dash soon anyway to get back there and be 100% with the wiring.

Allright sounds good... i can take anyone who needs to bum a ride up there from the springs.... all i need is a meeting time and place... im stoked for sunday!!!

woody
03-04-2008, 07:14 PM
SMR - not to jump your offer, but if I am going to haul James' X up, I have plenty of room in the Armada so you wouldn't have to drive.

James, probably need an answer by Thursday evening so I can arrange the trailer. Just let me know.

Guess I should also ask the wife if I can have a pass this Sunday. hehehehe!

SMR

Any time is fine with me, y'all decide. I normally get up at 4am on work days, so early is easy for me on weekends too.

ChefTyler

I'll probably show up around 8:00am but I have extra steps to perform before we can remove the BL (think adjust spring buckets so they don't contact the inner fender). So whatever time you guys can make it will be fine.

No Snow For James!

Wow...what a day. Forgot about all the custom fab work that we did to my truck with the BL installed which had to be re-done to get the body to drop...sliders took 90 minutes to cut off, and the rear upper shock mount was fun times. Got it all taken care of, though, plus a little custom clearanceing of the driver's rear plastic corner piece courtesy of the tail pipe. ~ 10 hrs of work in all for the day.

Big thanks to Ian for the garage, tools, and help. Big thanks to Martin for the help. Glad we got everything taken care of for Sean. Good to meet you guys finally, thanks for coming by Jeff and James.

SMR
03-10-2008, 09:12 PM
i would also like to thank everyone! it was a blast, and i love the new look of the BL... everyone at the school thinks it makes my car look almost like a military tank now :bannana: Tyler - when would u b avalible to get the transfer case shifter thing... or could i make one my self?

DamnHippie
03-11-2008, 06:22 AM
Yeah, I gotta get that compressor hard-wired into the outlet so it can run while the plasma is running, sharing the outlet is a big pain in the butt.

Swapping the t-case shifter is probably a half-hour job (90% of that will be getting the console apart so it'll come loose, under the truck it's just 3 bolts). It would definitely be easier to swap with an already-extended one, making the extension involves cutting the shift lever in half and welding in a 2-inch extension piece (and making sure you get it welded in at the right angle).

Sean - this statement should concern you greatly. Take a look at James' Xterra and let us know if you really want him working on yours. Though, he may just be looking for some spare parts out of yours for his.

He needs to swap t-case shifters with me (we didn't have time to get that done on Sunday) as he can't get into 4-lo without either notching the body where the shifter comes into the cab or just swapping shifters with me.

This is true...everything is half-badass

But either way, I do complete work on everyone else's rig, just not mine.

Stubby~CC
03-11-2008, 03:00 PM
Swaping the shifters is the easiest and best solution for both parties involved. I myself will volunteer some time to taking apart and/or putting back together a console, since I've taken mine apart about 5 times now, and successfully put it back together. :broke:

I remember taking my shift boot off...a couple times now. That sucked ass. Tore my carpet in a couple areas. I didn't have a shifter to replace though..so Ian just welded an extension onto my 4wd shifter.

My friends Jeff and Woody put me on an unspoken time out. I have a severe case of the mod bug. I drive an hour+ to remove body bolts. Then I drive home for an hour + and talk about it for days. It is getting bad. Any time I offer to help, shoot me down. It will be like that little kid who really wants to play but the big kids won't let him. So, say, No thanks James, and I will turn around with my tail between my legs and kick rocks. The best thing you can do for a man with my condition.

:roflmao:

You whiney little biotch! That is not what Jeff and I said. There you go twisting the true facts of the matter so someone will have sympathy for you.

For the rest of you, last night while James was on his dinner break he calls me to let me know he loves the threads about him and the lack of completion in his personal modifications. He also tells me that he has ordered a new stereo for the rig. Nevermind he has never had a working stereo in there since I have known him, and I think this will be the 3rd attempt at getting one in there.

Don't go feeling bad for James and his little pity party above. He does alright by others. Just not himself! Jeff and I are simply mentoring the young lad and he doesn't like it, sometimes.
