The white X was probably JeffW if he is in town. It is pretty sick!

I saw another white X that appeared to have a PML and TJM front bumper.

Is eagle rock drivable right now? I want to wheel this weekend; I'm looking for something that's open that's less than a 3 hour drive from Denver.

Dunno. I'm out of town on business.

Ian, is eagle rock your favorite trail? I saw you post something about it in another topic as well.

Yeah, eagle rock is one of my favorite trails in colorado. It's just difficult enough to challenge a slighly-modified IFS vehicle, without being crazy-hard. (Slighly modified meaning armor and bigger tires.) And if you want something harder, there's always the low road on saran wrap right next door to the start of eagle rock.

So me just having the BL won't work on eagle rock?

Martin ran eagle rock with stock size tires and no lift and got some non-trivial damage on his rocker panels. But, he wasn't taking the bypass on the obstacle that got him the damage, he was on the same hard line everyone else was doing.

What year was that? The only time I've seen that trail reasonably driveable for a stocker was '04 when the trail group "fixed it". Since then it just seems to get worse and worse (unless it's been "fixed" again). It can be driven, but usually involves too much skinny pedal, a tug or two and body damage.

So me just having the BL won't work on eagle rock?

Depends on condition. This time of year would not be a good time to drive up the hill without good info. I'm overdue to check it out, so I'll let you know.

It was September 2006 when Martin was along on that eagle rock run. I'm not sure it was "reasonably drivable" but Martin has a serious can-do attitude when it comes to driving offroad. He wasn't about to take the bypasses when everyone else was taking harder lines, even though his was the only stock rig. He paid for that with some rocker damage, but the return on investment was a big boost up the learning curve for offroad driving.
