Hey all, whoever is close to CS, this would be a great help. I sold my seats and Richard (racerxterra) is going to buy them.

He is going to GONE and would like to pick them up that way.

He is going to give me $30 extra for doing this on top of the price of the seats.

If anyone is or can come through CS, and pick up the seats to deliver to Richard in Moab, it would be greatly appreciated. The extra $30 is yours

My truck is in the springs now. I pick it up on Thursday morning. Take them to Jed and toss them in the bed (they will have to share space with the Calmini bumper but they should fit). I should have room for at least one. I'm sure Chris or someone can grab the other one.

I can take them to Jed for sure. I will have them in 3 pieces each. I will wrap them in wrap first. Thanks Clay!

How can you proove that? I can physically proove you are going UP in elevation. Can you PROOVE that it is down? Going north, south, east, and west are all subjective. They can't truly be proven. Someone said "Ah, this looks like a 'north' to me, so this will be called north!"

Thanks for playing though.

Bill Potter

You may think you win...but 99.9% of us still think of south as down. So:
...in Wyo. we would say down in Colorado
...in Texas the same 99.9% would say up in Colorado.

Is it correct? The English language allows for these two uses....

Main Entry:
1down Listen to the pronunciation of 1down
Pronunciation:
\ˈdau̇n\
Function:
adverb
Etymology:
Middle English doun, from Old English dūne, short for adūne, of dūne, from a- (from of), of off, from + dūne, dative of dūn hill
Date:
before 12th century

1 a (1): toward or in a lower physical position (2): to a lying or sitting position (3): toward or to the ground, floor, or bottom b: as a down payment <paid $10 down> c: on paper <put down what he says>
2: in a direction that is the opposite of up: as a: southward b: to or toward a point away from the speaker or the speaker's point of reference c: in or into the stomach <can't keep food down>
3: to a lesser degree, level, or rate <cool down tensions>
4: to or toward a lower position in a series
5 a: to or in a lower or worse condition or status b—used to indicate thoroughness or completion <dusted down the house><described him down to his haircut>
6: from a past time <stories passed down by word of mouth>
7: to or in a state of less activity or prominence
8: to a concentrated state <got the report down to three pages>
9: into defeat <voted the motion down>

The power is in the masses...but you can sit in your little corner all alone if you wish!

First, your inability to spell a simple word such as prove suggests a lower level of intelligence compared to myself, thus rendering your argument in an air of much less verisimilitude.

Down in relation to a map viewed at proper orientation, which has been the accepted manner of making and viewing maps for how many years?

If you like, I can map out an elevation profile with my TOPO software from Denver to CS. While the elevation at the end may be higher, I'm sure there is some "down" travel in there as well as some areas which are quite level.

While the end of the trip may indeed result in a higher elevation, the actual journey will consist of both "up" and "down" if looking at it in your point of view.

Also, you neglect to notice that your thinking is two dimensional.

Whereas your "up" and "down" are stated by you as correct while saying that my directional methods are incorrect, you forget that your "up" and "down" is just the Z-axis on the normal X/Y axis of direction. X representing Easterly/Westerly travel, and Y representing Northerly/Southerly travel. Your "up" and "down" is in fact travelling along the same set of spacial coordinates as my directional methods, simply adding the third dimension to those coordinates rather than looking at the Z-plane as a two dimensional space.

Once pointing that fact out, I can then question your own statement and submit that you cannot physically prove that your methods are fact any more than I, thus rendering your argument moot.

Thank you, come again.

In your example, elevation is also subjective. Measured from what point, the sun? moon? sea level? north pole? south pole? Jupiter?

You would also need to define your statement better or we would all be lost.

RONIN-n.-Professional threadjackers.....all of them...myself included

I generally say down no matter what,

So......

Here is the question of the century.

IF your girl stand standing SOUTH of you, and she is standing on a plane that is 3.5' higher than you, and you want to proceed to pleasure her with oral sex while standing on your tippytoes, do you go DOWN on her, or do you go up on her?

You are going down in cardinal direction but up in elevation. What is it?

I prefer to think of it as me on the 3.5' higher plane, and then I don't care what she wants to call it!!!!

Call it what you want, it's up in elevation. Down in cardinal direction.

And Odin, I didn't take it seriously :D

But either which way, math(numbers) are MUCH more definate as there are no substitutions. Think about it, there is nothing more definate than an answer to a problem in math. There is only a certain way to ONE certain answer. But as for words, there are so many words that mean so many different things. For example, the Inuit have 24 words for snow. We have: shitty snow, light snow, snow, etc...

I stand by me saying up to the springs. I would say I am going UP to Colorado from Wyoming as, well, you are. Going down to Texas in more than one way, elevation and cardinal direction.

If you are going to China Wall, and you are going from Greeley, Denver, etc..., what do you say? Down, or up? You(general) said up ;)

OdiN
04-30-2008, 01:55 PM
For East/West directions - if I'm going to the mountains I'd say I'm going up to the mountains.

If I was going to Nebraska, I'd say something like I'm going over to Omaha.

Sometimes I might also say like I'm going out to China Wall or something like that.

Hey Tyler, if you do end up making some cookies, can you bring a batch down south in Cardinal direction and up in elevation, and down in population, and up in irrigation to Colorado Springs? that would be great!

Clay, I am not sure that Thursday will work. I am super busy with finals so I am gonna be working on that....

I might see if Alex can bring them to Denver for me.

I really appreciate the offer, and if it were tomorrow or on Saturday, then it would work out. Normally, I would say Phuck it, and skip class, but doing that too often landed me with the inability to do that and now in finals I really have to buckle down. Thanks again!-James
