If you don't find someone to go with, do NOT go wheeling. Wheeling alone is about the dumbest thing you can do in this hobby.

You know, it seems like there are days when I just have to disagree, vocally, with most everything I hear/read.
The whole "never go wheeling alone" thing ranks right up there on my disagreement list.
Most of the wheeling I've done in my life has been alone. That includes absolutely every bit of wheeling I've ever done in the Moab area, and I've done pretty much all the trails out there rating in the 3 - 4.5 range.
IMO, there's absolutely nothing wrong with wheeling alone. Just make sure you're prepared to deal with whatever might happen, within reason. Carry tools. Carry spare parts. Carry food and water and other gear necessary to survive, perhaps for many days.
That's all there is to it. Don't be a worry-wort, don't be a panty-waist. Go for it.
Have fun.

Heck in Moab you can probably find a group to hook up with pretty easy. Unless its July and August. Sept I think you will have more people.

awesome...what are you looking to do while there??? crazy trails or more chill stuff? I'll probably have my dog with me, so no national parks. however, i know of some awesome places to camp on BLM land outside of the Needles district of Canyonlands. Late September weather will be kickass too!!!

nope...on BLM land, no permits (where I go anyway) and you can do anything you want out there. just leave no trace.

I could come. I only live a couple hours from moab and can meet up with you guys. They changed the moab trail ratings recently so if your truck can only run 4-5 rated trails I feel bad for you haha. Its 1-10 now..
