OK just so everyone is not startled when you arrive in Utah.

1. All Liquor Stores in Utah are State Owned.
2. THE liquor Store in Moab is state owned.
3. Beer and Liquor is more expensive in Utah.
4. You can not buy Cold beer at the Liquor Store.
5. They do not sell Ice at the Liquor Store.
6. You can buy cold 3.2 at some gas stations.
7. Ice of course is at the gas stations.
8. Anything over 3.2 ABV is considered hard liquor.
9. Bringing in out of state liquor above 3.2 ABV is against the law.

Now that you have the facts, decide what you want to do.

And having a full size keg in the back of an "open" vehicle in full view or barely covered with a tarp... is not a good idea.

I all reality, if you get pulled over & the cop happens to see your stash, do not admit you know the Utah laws. Ignorance of Utah law is in your favor. They did not post a dump your liquor sign at the border. Interstate commerce laws will also be in your favor. (Similar rule to contesting a non-street legal ticket issued by the Moab PD. Your vehicle is street legal if your home jurisdiction issued a license for it)

Just say you have all the liquor because you heard it was expensive in Moab and that you spend enough money on gas for your vacation.

yeah, that works, unless you have it covered with a blue tarp and duct tape, specifically to keep smokey from seeing it.

You were not hiding it from the cops. You were hiding it from potential thiefs when you stopped to get lunch.

Ignorance of the law is not a defense...

I'll claim ignorance. Hell, it's only beer. It's not transporting guns or illegals across the border. In Utah, it's probably more of a crime to bring religious pamphlets into the state!

I went through moab last night- It's really busy down there, there was not a single hotel room available, so had to keep driving to grand junction. I did not see any nissans either

Don't sweat the liquor laws. They aren't as restrictive as you might think. The thing to remember is 'plan ahead' so your good beer is cold before you drink it.

Right next to the Moab Drugstore is the liquor store. The only issue is they close early.
