PANIC!

Need part numbers for rear axle bearings for my Xterra.

I had a seal replaced, now I need new bearings, nobody can find them locally.

I am hoping still to leave town Wednesday for Moab.

I'll drive to Denver if needed.

If you can help

call me on my cell 719-250-9024

Looking for Allen Cox if possible.

Is there any way to get them out of a junkyard axle without ruining them?

Talked to Allen Cox, he said with the right tool, I should not have needed to replace them at this time. Oh' well such is learning.

There is a place in Longmont called rocky mtn supply. They specialize in bearings ,and have a Denver store or warehouse. I would try them maybe. The number is 303-678-0205. They re-fabed my high pressure powersteering line about 3 months ago for half the price. Our used car tech uses them all the time. Not that it will help you as your in Pueblo Sorry.

I think I have and oddball axle.

We are finding that the bearing assembly is not what Nissan thinks it should be.

I'm running thanks to a used LH rear axle hub assembly. It has a slight wobble and should get me through the next couple weeks until we can find the correct sized bearing assembly.

The guys working on it are going to search for appropriately sized bearings and see if something might work.

What was there: O.D. 3.150 inches, I.D. 1.657 inches(axle). Maybe it will be found in the next few days and I can swap this out after the first of the year.

Well,

I have an oddball axle. One which you might normally find under a Patherfinder, or at least the axle bearings and raceway. The part appears to fit the 2000 pathfinder and older pathy's.

I got a different part on order today, and hopefully it is correct and fits the axle like it is supposed to.

Very strange. I need to see if I can find out the differences between the Xterra and Pathfinder axle. Could this have happened at the factory, or perhaps when I got the rear locker. Why would the shop switch axles?

Inquiring minds want to know.

You have a 2000, right Todd? If so, it's entirely possible that they just used the H233Bs they had on the parts shelf and then changed them slightly for later production runs? I have no clue honestly.

I've got a 2000 Pathfinder if there is anything you need to compare.

I damaged one of mine doing my ARB and found some at a Napa or carquest that had some for I think a chevy but the were the exact same size. The numer matched the Nissan # but had one small difference. I called 5 different stores before I found what I needed not all Napa's have the same stuff.

I'll pick up the part in the morning from NAPA. Then it is off to the shop to get the axle assembly restarted. They are going to put everything back together - HOPEFULLY. In hindsight, the donor/temp axle assembly from the junkyard was significantly different looking from mine. E-Brake was a different setup. I'll look at some other axles at a later date. Is there a way to track things by a serial number on the axle?

If this works, the really cute blonde :D at the store in Pueblo will have locked up my parts business.

I better make sure I don't have some other engine shoved under the hood before I buy new motor mounts. Maybe I have a 4-banger out of a Sentra (noth that there is anything wrong with the 4-banger from a Sentra).

Hopefully I'll be doing this :driving: soon. Todd

The bearing assembly came in. Everything looks like it is a go.

I wonder how many other people have hybrib axles. Glad I had the time to wait and my truck was not stuck in some backwoods town. Wait, I am in a backwoods town.

Few more days and it should be back in more or less original condition.
