Who is in for the first weekend of ice racing this year? My plan is to take the X to the first weekend and then the pickup to the rest of the events as the X will be under the knife shortly :flamer:

I want to go for the "practice" sessions :) But it'll be hard to pass up a good day of riding for it so...probably not ;)

I'm going to try to make it to the first one. I'll know more later.

C'mon JR, come to one day of racing and go from there :D You can deal with one day of sliding on the ice instead of hittin the slopes!

Ok, so I got all teched up for the season, but the town wouldn't open the lake so no racing this Sunday. But, next Sunday they are hosting what they call a "kiss your sister day" where if you lose in the first round, you get to compete in a second round so it's double elimination instead of single :D

what was the reason for not opening it up? Did they for Friday and Saturday?

They had practice/fun day Friday and then raced yesterday. They were having issues getting people off the ice becasue of the snow that's piled/drifter at the entrance/exit of the lake. I think the reason they wouldn't open it today was because of the wind. While sitting in my truck waiting for a decision we got hit pretty hard with some heavy gusts...would have made it interesting on the ice.

Yea, got that. Been on the ice before when it was "BREEZY", went sideways and could not stop. So for safety reasons due to wind, that sounds good to me. Just wanted to know it was NOT due to the ice thickness, that scares me. thanks.

So I did not miss anything, Good. Maybe I can make the other times, sure would like to.

Next weekend will be a blast :D I read on CO4x4 from a guy that went to the fun day on Friday that the ice is around 12-15" and now that the snow is off the ice, the wind can get back to freezing it to 20"+ :D

Wow. Just last weekend my buddies and I were talking about ice racing and how fun it looked. I had no idea it was so easy to do. And with nothing to crash into but cones, it seems safer than autocrossing (which I did for several years). I will definantly try to make it up for at least one event this year. How helpful is the stock LSD for this type of driving? I know it's pretty good in the snow and on loose sand, but I don't know about cornering on a sheet of ice. You can have more than one driver too, maybe one of my friends will come along.

I've only raced with an open diff...this year I was going to test out the locker and see how that affects my ice racing prowess :D

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun :D

how did you do Tyler? I drove by at around 9am on the way to loveland, I think I saw you lining up, a red landcruiser behind you?

When you saw me, I was doing some practice runs to get re-aclimated to Ice driving...
Race 1 (originally scheduled race for today): I lost spectacularly in the first round :D on the dogbone track

Race 2 (originally scheduled race for last Sun): I beat the snot out of a WRX (that beat the snot outa me twice during practice) in the first round and then lost to a grey Ferd Ranger in the 2nd round.

Met a very cool guy named Brian (I think, I'm horrible with names) from Frisco with a brand new 2nd gen X with temp tags on it who won first place in the first race and placed 6th in the 2nd race. I'll be back next weekend with my Silverado to see how she does on the ice with more all-terrain type-ish tires vs. the Super Swamper TSLs (suck balls on the ice, btw...great on the snow on TOP of the ice though :D)
At any rate, Brian wants to come wheelin' with us this spring/summer even though he's going to keep his X stock :D

Love it!
