That thing is pretty sweet. But there is something, I can't put my finger on it, that I like about Ryan's more. Maybe it's more of a complete front end, no grill on that one, and Ryan's bumper kinda completes it more.

I don't like the look of an exo cage myself.

wouldn't mind seeing more of the suspension on that one. maybe it will come later.

Exo cages aren't about looks.

It's about protection more or less, but Ryan's just seems so much more crisp, clean, and professional looking.

Exo cages aren't about looks.

Yeah, I know, don't really care for their functionality either.

the main reason i would want an exo is so i could continue to recline my seats and not lose any knee room. every internal cage i've seen would kill my knees and i wouldn't be able to recline anymore.

Yeah, I know, don't really care for their functionality either.

wanna expand on that? I want to hear what you have to say because I am thinking about doing a partial exo on mine eventually

thats more just an opinion of his alot of people just dont like them. my opinion and from some shops that ive talked to. on them on vehicles like xterras or pathfinders is they are hard to make rigid enough that when you lay it over or roll it has to mutch deflection. because there are no cross braces conecting the two sides. the way to do a good exo on rigs like that are having more of a exo/internal cage were right behind the drivers seat and rear passenger seat you put an x through the roof and tie it to the floor. again this is just my opinion. this is how ill adventually do my frontier

i know this is off subject since it a hardbody i just was giving him my opinion since i know he has a xterra

exo's and interior cages are apples and oranges come on guys.... Exo's are designed to be slid across the rocks and banged into the rocks over and over again. The function of an exo is to support the weight of the vehicle sideways or upside down. An interior cage is designed just for emergencies and personal protection... Some of the guys I wheel with have both some just an exo but they really do have two totally different functions. I understand some can be built poorly but I have never seen one crossbraced. The rigs I go with flop constantly with no ill effects..

Everyone I know who has built an exo does it to protect the body of the vehicle...I don't own a trailer queen and I could give a shit about body damage and my paint, I guess I just don't see the point, it's a wheeling rig and chicks dig body damage. If I'm going to add that kind of weight to my truck it's going to be for structural support and to keep my alive. Just my $0.02.

yes this is true but my body has been so ripped to shreds it has holes throughout the sheet metal... I really don't care about sheet metal but the windows are going to be the next to go so an exo is soon to come. And as I said before they serve more of a function then just protection. It is for protection indeed but almost can be considered a full body rock slider cause that's what they do. Body panels taco on impact while tube helps one slide and stay rigid enough to support the weight.

A dent deeper than the thickness of the tubing renders that part of an EXO useless for protection.

I see all these guys replacing those sections.... ya right.

I guess it matters what you are after. Protection from the big hit or keep your doors in working order.

As far as making it wheel better... lets add 3-500lbs of steel to a rig for???? and it now makes it over the rocks better. Hmm?

I guess it is all in what a guy wants.

I want to put a roll bar in the bed that is tied to my sliders it might to a little to protect my trailer queen (i'm not afraid to admit it) but since its a single tube its not going to do much. The main reason I want to build one if for satey of me and since I wheel with my dog I want something to protect her in the bed of the truck. Thats on my list to do before MOAB next year but we'll see.

Any way I like the HB its unique and does not look like everything else out on the trail. They guy probably could have built a toyota truggy for cheaper or a jeep but instead he chose Nissan. I love it!

I posted this because it looks so similar to ryans. Same colors, year pre 90s, king cab, flat bed. vg33.

Only the suspension is different.

He must of paid some serious money for all that custom work. I just love king cab D21s! Looks more like roger mears race trucks.
