Allen,
Thanks for taking my calls regarding the bearings and the motor mount. I ended up loosening the top nut on the MM and this allowed it to slip down past the plate on the lower half. Was very simple except of the fact that may hands are too big. I know that this is a quick fix if the MM won't drop back into place.
Troy,
Thanks for helping out. I need to get the MM ordered and I'll return the ratchet strap. The 3/16" aircraft cable fit into the ratchet very nicely. I may want to shorten the cable so I can get it up into a more protected position, but after the 8 hour trip back from moab, nothing melted or frayed like nylon might have. I'll also look for a metal corner protector to make a smoother turn for the cable. I'll also get a better run-down on the field swap out of a MM.
The turnbuckle strap may be very interesting as a way to field repair a broken MM and get back to camp. A strong eye-bolt through the holes above the MM, then a long turnbuckle, and a hook or something to attach to the sway bar mounts could do the trick.
Back home and needing to get stuff on order to complete the repairs. Trying to look at the likelyhood of future MM failures and wanting to add just enough limit to the movement if possible.
