Ok so i didnt want to jinx it but i bought this instead of rebuildin the motor. This pathy, "The Pathmaker II", has 114308 miles on her, new auto tranny and much more to come...
ok just picked her up today. got no fresh pics so here are the for sale pics:

Tomorrow i will be taking the lift off The Pathmaker and swappin em onto The Pathmaker II. Currently she sits with a 1.5" BL, 33X12.5 BFG mudders that are soon to be on Jason's BlueX, custom candy paint, custom fenders, smittybuilt step bars/rock sliders, no scratches/dents as of yet, premium 6 speaker sound system, no sun roof :(, ugly chrome rims, tinted windows, crappy CD player.
I traded $1500 worth of materials+labor to install a AC system in this guys body shop. i got one hell-of-a-deal!!!!! the motor looks like it just came out of the factory.
Updates will come in the next 1-2 days with some fresh pics including flexy shots from my buddies place sunday.

Are those fiberglass fenders, or are they "pulled". I am thinking tht they are pulled, trimmed and reflanged.
That is a nice-looking pathy. Not crazy about the color, but it looks to be in really good shape. I'm happy for you.

yea he "pulled" or as he said "stretched" the fenders about 2-3". looks real good too. as far as the paint job goes im not too worried about it.....shoot i didnt pay for it so im not worried about scratches/dents as usual. and im not gonna need to bust out the sawzall till i SAS her. after im done with the SL components ill clear my 34's just fine. already clears the 33X12.5 fine and im going with a skinnier tire.
progress is going good.....lots more work left!!!

I thought about doing pulled fenders, but where I wheel, they would be more likely to get torn up if they stuck out more. It's a cool look, though. I wish I could get away with it.

got the lift and steering swapped over to the new pathy. cant get my tbars right probably because im so tired. replaced a couple ball joints and TRE's while i was there. swapped only 1 WARN hub over because one of the allenhead bolt on the other auto hub is stripped and didnt feel like taping it out. both cv boots are split so im gonna swap the ones from the white pathy over. removed rear sway...gonna leave the front one on for a while.
gotta put my front suspension on the white pathy good enough to make it roll. still gotta install all my electrical shit, swap alt, CV's, tires, NKG wires/plugs, water pump, tbelt/tensioner, drive belts, seal engine compartment, figure out WTF the squeeling noise coming from the driver front tire at 23mph is(yea only at 23MPH...weird), ebrake extension, and im sure theres more.

That squealing thing kinda sounds familiar. Have you checked the wheel bearings on the new pathy?

yea i was just thinkin about that man and i really hope not. it is constant at 23MPH no matter if you turn left/right or hit the brakes. i got no play in the bearing but it could have some dirt in it esp since the CV boots are shot. ill check further into it today.
going to a buddies house to hang out and flex her out so ill have pics up 2nite....i was on a roll yesturday and didnt take any pics.

Ian and I are going to re-pack them with grease because I have the same sound but at lower MPH's. Mine have no play either, but I dunno when the last time they had grease or had been replaced, so it's always a good thing to look into.
Also, my passenger CV boot has a hole in it, so it could be the same situation?

Whenever you've got a squeal coming from a front wheel, the brakes are the first thing to check. Beside the obvious (wear indicator/screamer), a bent dust shield that's brushing the rotor is a good candidate. Also it could be one of the pad shims got a bit out of place and rubs the rotor a bit.

yea i messed with the brakes and it stopped so im good for now.
went to my buddys house and flexed her out, got her on 2 wheels a few times and caught some air lauchin out of a hole......it was a BLAST!!! here are some pics:

i think im gonna become a professional landscaper!!!!
all in all a great time. the pathy does awesome as expected. will be even better when i swap the 34's over but i do need to do some trimming.....so i gotta bust out the :saw: and :beermug:. only need to loose about 1/2" from the back bottom of the rear fenders.....should be quick, painless and hopefully unnoticeable!!!!

Very nice flex goin on there! I love the way those tires look with it too, which kinda made up my mind on the tires I am going to when I get 33's. How do they sound on pavement? Are they loud or decently quiet?

Thanks man. i think there really quite but then again i was rollin on 34" non-radial LTB's in the other pathy and those beasts are obnoxiously loud! the BFG's got a nice low hum to em at about 70mph....not too bad at all IMO. im sellin the tires to BlueX and gonna stick the 34's with the blacked out rims on the Pathmaker II. why you may ask.....i hate the chrome rims(shit chrome in general), dont see the need a 12.5" wide tire(esp since i rub frame up front bad with em now), another 1/2" ground clearance(woohoo), more aggressive tred pattern, and desire a stronger tire that will handle just about anything i wanna run over. the swampers should be on her next weekend.
all in all though a BFG mudder is a descent tire both on and offroad. a little overpriced IMO. they do sling some dirt though . if my pathy was a daily driver i would be running some sort of radial mudder but since its not i can deal with sounding like a jet engine bouncing down the road :errr:

yea thats my buddy Mark whos in the va4x4 club. he was pretty drunk when i was doin it just laughin his ass off.....hopefully he doesnt regret it today. his exact words yesturday were "remove all the f-in grass man cause im sick of cuttin it" so i did my best!!! i dont wheel illegally

heres me on a trail run a couple weeks ago with the LTB's installed. it is called Dictums Ledge. i drove up the ledge then turned around and drove down it. 45 minutes to drive up it and 5 minutes to go down. on the right side of the pics is a 30' drop-off into a rivine where a couple rigs have ended up in the past including a SASed X on like 37's. he tried going up but failed.

bashed in my passengerside step bar/slider and scratched the passenger side door a bit on a rock. drowned my starter. all in all nothing major.
just gotta install my cragar 15X8's with 3.75" BS to eliminate the frame rubbage in the rear hopefully this weekend.

I like 'em Rich. And your pathy sits a little low up front, is that from the JGC coils? I'm comparing it to mine, and there is a lot less tilt compared to mine lol.
pathmaker1
11-19-2008, 03:31 PM
yea i dont mind the color. sometimes i like it and sometimes i dont. the main thing about the paint job is it looks to nice to be a wheelin rig. looks like im a mall crawler tryin to impress people. i really dont care what others think so its all good. i actually wheel my junk unlike 90% of others i see on the road around here. waiste of money IMO to lift a truck sky high to drive it around on the road. whatever blows your skirt up i suppose....
Sully i got 1" spacers in the rear as well as the JGC coils so i still have a little rake. didnt crank these tbars up as much as on my white pathy cause i didnt need to for clearance. the 1.5" BL really helps a lot. the pic is deceiving and on level ground in daylite it looks almost perfectly level. i think the rear is 1.5" higher than the front. doesnt matter much though since the IFS will soon be gone!!!!
