View Full Version : Anyone else want headers for their Pathfinder/Xterra/Frontier?

I'm posting this everywhere...trying to gauge interest.
Does anyone else want an alternative to the SLR headers? Lots of people haven't been pleased with their customer service (waiting 3 months for headers with no communications) or price. There is a local shop (Hanksville Hotrods) that is willing to give us Nissan owners a new supplier for headers.
They'd fit the R50 Pathfinders (which no one makes headers for now), Xterras, and Frontiers.
Let me know if anyone else is interested as they're willing to do a prototype on mine with enough response. :D

I'm interested but they have to work with the S/C frontier motor. I never look to much into the SLR headers but I think they state that they wont fit the S/C motors.

LOL, Tyler, I am heading down there on Saturday morning to get the exhaust re-done on my pickup and I was going to ask them about developing headers for Nissans, specifically the VG30 and 33. Great guys to work with so far. I'll keep ya'll in the loop :D

I would be interested if they did some for the VG30 in my pathy.

You're lucky enough that a few companies already make stuff to fit yours! :D
Seems like they do really great work. I've been keeping in touch with Hank on CO4x4 and seems like they're really interested on doing it with enough interest. He mentioned that if there's interest I can drop it off on the 13th. :D
And I wasn't aware that SLR headers won't fit the S/C versions. No idea why it's any different.

I'm all over the 33 headers...I'll sell 'em to JR if I ever get to build up my 30 like I wanna :D

I'll have mine on by then....I want 33 headers...They need to use my truck as a prototype since I'm kinda broke right now ;)

We put a set of the Nissan Motorsports headers on a 3.0 Hardbody...whew that is a lot of work! It was easier putting the 4.3 into a Nissan 720 than fitting those headers in that truck. I reccomend a header for those 3.0s, my exhaust manifolds would always crack on those engines.
I suppose I would be interested in headers for the 3.3, even though the X is the baby boy hauler right now. Keep us updated.

The Thorleys should fit... they give ya problems Tyler?

he knows that if those don't fit his truck and he doesn't sell them to me, the excrement will hit the rotating oscilator.
and don't go hacking them up for a prototype, that would be a waste. I have some pacesetters if you need something for mock ups.

I already drilled the broken studs out and had the manifolds resurfaced when I put my engine in I was looking at the Thorley headers but I think I may stay away from the pacesetters do to past experiences with the Hondas.just keeping my options open.

You had issues with Pacesetter? Hmm...I was looking at their headers for my Fronty before I decided to sell it.

I am interested in a set for my pathy even though it is a little girl taxi right now. It is still my truck on the weekends!! On the poll it has choices with or without cats. I know ft. collins is supposed to do away with emissions so I do not see it being a big deal but do you think keeping the cats will affect performance like with too much back pressure? Will they affect the sound dramatically? I know adams county and some other county's are still doing emissions testing as I have to take the 03 chevy in for a test.

Tyler (the other one) had a good idea, get the headers w/o cats and put some aftermarket high flow cats on there instead.

I have had bad experiences with hondas not nissans.look at DC sports headers and then the pacesetters. DC are bolt up some of the pace setters were not.(you had to have them welded or use clamps) I have also had clearence issues on D16's(civic engines) collectors touching oil pans I dont recommend them to my Honda performance customers ,also I have run into shotty 02 sensor bungs that fell off while installing the sensor and the black paint flaked off allowing the pipes to rust. not to discourage you.lol. I havent heard any horror stories with the nissans at all and its been awile since I have used them. :twocents:

nissan pacesetters have the same problems as hondas it sounds like.

I just think, If your paying over two hundred dollers for headers then they should bolt up just like the factory manifold did and be made of Quality materials. The magazines also gave pacesetter the lowest output numbers of the six sets that were tested ,and they are a bigger company than some of the others I think they are about quanity not quality.

Xterra- highflow cats. Timing belt, cams and lifters have to come first though- I'm getting closer to that time.

Tyler and I need to get a set of exhaust manifolds over to Hank to get the flange pattern worked out.

This is an old thread!
What ever happened to this? Do they need a truck to prototype? I'll gladly volunteer. I know you don't have the same motor anymore Tyler but if you still have the connection let me know. I have a cracked manifold so I need something and I don't want to be the ginnie pig to test the AC ones on the S/C motor.

Absativly, like others had said they need to fit the SC engines and try and require as little replumbing to keep them legal.

The problem, I think, is that there's no way one set of headers will fit all the vehicles mentioned in this thread. The manifolds are drastically different between the frontier/xterra and the pathfinder/qx4. They also need to be different between NA and SC (EGR routes differently, etc).
So whoever develops this needs 5 or 6 different development efforts to cover a very small market. Probably not gonna happen.
