OK in light of the storms in the last couple of weeks do you plan on buying snow chains?

Yeah, I will be. My only issue is that I don't want to buy 'em for my 33s when I'm going up to 34s or 35s shortly...maybe I'll just pick 'em up for the Chevy :D

already have them. Had to use them to pull a buddy out. I was on ice and he was high centered diagnally across a snow plow ridge. strapped one on turned on the locker and he came right out.

I won't put them on my truck cause they will destroy my brake lines within seconds. I have however used them many times with great results, both on a stock hardbody and My Semi.

As you can see it could be a disaster if a chain hit the braided steel bake line.

I popped off the mudders and slapped a set of all terrain tires with tons of built in siping. So far so good...I have pulled three people out. One was a guy driving an Ford Expolder with 34ish tires. His 4x4 exploded and he only had 2wd. Big lugs + decent horse power + Ford = Expolder!

Why are you people acting like you've never heard of them or used them? I grew up with chains on cars in Montana...

Well, not everyone is Nanook of the frikken North like you! :roflmao:

I remember when we moved to GA we actually kept a couple of snow shovels. Some of the people that had lived in the south all of the lives had no clue what they were. Never had seen a snow shovel before in their lives.

I know what they are, just never needed them before :D and I probably didn't need them for the last storm(s) but they'd be nice to have for extra insurance for the really nasty days :D

had them for my CRX and never needed them. luckily, they fit the new civic so they are in the trunk waiting. I have really good studless now tires though, so I probably won't need them. if it is that bad out, the bumper will be dragging the ground and I won't be worrying about chains.

Snow tires do wonders- Denver doesn't have enough nasty days to justfiy chains or studs...just don't go out for the afternoon. I met a dude the other day who did even know what chains were...

:D Nanook- how about bum instead? Here's Montana and the little red dot is actual size (not scaled in state) and larger than the city of Wolf Point to which it indicates :D And even then I live 25mi. NORTH of that...

..and for reference, Canada was only 30mi. north of my house ;) Waaaaay the frack up there. It's where I rode lots of dirtbikes and snowmobiles :D

...and this is downtown...

Was there a plow on the road this morning? No. We won't see them until Sunday...they took the day off today because it's snowing and it'll take day for them to mobilize once they get back to work tomorrow. :D

I will eventually get chains, but for the mud more than the snow. Wet clay roads are far slicker than you can imagine. Ask Kevin, Eric, and Troy. I got stranded on a 2WD flat road in Dinosaur National Park because I simply couldn't stay on the road. It went from a nice 40mph road to a skating rink in a matter of minutes when it started raining. You could hardly stand up on the damn road, much less drive on it. I now understand what "road may be impassable when wet" means.

I plan on buying a set eventually. I too pulled out poeple in the storm just with my pathy and a set of BFG At's. They worked great in all three of these storms. Today was a crappy day to commute to denver at 5 am.

The first thing I got for the short bus was a full set of chains. Won't go hunting without them, dont care what kind of tires are on. I've always had chains for the Nissan p/u 4x4 and every truck before that. Living in the mountains without chains is flirting with disaster. Besides, I have to commute with what I hunt in, and chains are cheap investment when you cant buy tires for $150 each.

I've got two sets of Rudd chains for my truck - realized that until I get the rear lifted again, I can't use them on the rear - not enough clearence between tire and plastic....
