Clicking sound when braking?

I'm getting a clicking sound when I'm braking. Not super loud, but easily audible. Happens at any speed, but only seems to happen once the pedal is pushed down to a certain level. Brakes feel fine and braking distance doesn't seem to have changed. Seems normal except the clicking. Only happens with movement. Pumped the brakes while sitting still and no noise. Coming from up front somewhere.

Any ideas?

Okay well I washed it and drove around a bit - and it's not just when braking.

It seems to happen sometimes when I go from 1st to 2nd gear, and again when downshifting from 2nd to 1st (this is an auto) - and now I'm thinking the sound is coming more from the rear. It's really hard to tell where exactly it's coming from.

Go wash the wheels & brakes & see if it still happens. I have had that noise a few times after wheeling & just washing the truck made it go away.

Yeah - got it real muddy yesterday.

Haven't gotten it to the wash yet. I'll give that a try and see what happens.

Yeah, if you got it muddy there's proably a small pebble wedged in the dust shield near the calipers. If just washing doesn't cure it, try removing the lower caliper bolt and pivot the caliper up like you're gonna change the brake pads, that'll probably make the pebble fall out.

I had a similiar issue after mudding, but it was my hub cover from my rims that had mud in it, it made a bunch of mud pebbles after spinning so much.

A rock stuck in your treads? That seems to happen to me when I wheel. There will be clicking, clicking, clicking and then CLANG, the rock came loose in my undercarriage

I'm used to hearing the rocks in the treads, but this is different.

So.... Did you find the source of the clicking?

I have not found the source. But I've been very busy. I haven't been able to even look much.

But I've got no clue where to really even start.
