That thing is sweet! I love the old two doors. Glad to see you back in a full body pathfinder. Not that the half cut or the moonbuggy weren't badass but that thing is killer.

That thing is freakin awesome!!!! Way to represent the 2-doors ;)

What year was your black one? 89 too??

Lovin' it. ;) This one's a keeper. I think everyone kinda goes through that buggy phase before finding a balance. lol

The old beast was an 87 XE. This SE pimps power windows, mirrors, cruise, and a sunroof! Holla :D

My bro had leafs. We cut it all off and linked it. ;)

I agree with Richard. You build some sweet stuff. :)

I have the exact same thing as you, cept with IFS and yea =P. That sunroof kicks ass, doesn't it? :D

That last video shows the coil completely disconnected at the top. Do you have something holding it in on the bottom seat?

Hells yeah. Gettin' my bronze on.

Thanks bros. It means a lot comin' from the Monster Nissan crew. ;)

The coil spring is welded to the axle and is captured in the upper bucket with a little somethin somethin. :D

Very nice, I really like how low and stable it seems to be while remaining incredibly flexy.

You running swaybars for the street or do you just drive really REALLY slow?:D

You may not believe me, but I have less body roll now than I did stock without swaybars. I'm running 320# springs f/r, my rear coils are out-boarded, and rear track bar is raised on the axle side about 8". It's pretty sweet.

Thanks Pathman. I think you'll be much happier with linked coils ;)

Here's an early build pic:

320#.....like three hundred and twenty inch-pound????????? Damn that is stiff!

theking

That's what I came up with for the 9" XJ coils using the spring rate formula. They only compress 2.5" and are over 21" long at ride height  But, the ride is amazingly smooth and it seems to work great on the trail. I love it.

Wow, those are some stiff units. Rustys Offroad makes some 9 inch coils. If I remember correctly they are only rated at 180lbs.

A guy could put a pin through tube at the top of the spring to hold it there while on the road. Probably make ya piss your pants though and we wouldn't want that!

Actually after doing Moab Rim in the Pathy I was thinking about doing this for the rear coils. The loose traveling coils flex like mad, however they scare the :poospray: out of a guy on really leany stuff.

Ya got one sweet ride there bro!!!!

Thnx Ryan. Rusty's is smokin' crack sayin their 9" XJs are 180#. Those are the springs I have. I used the rate equation http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=656650&highlight=spring+rate+equation

plus, they hardly compress  They're bad ass coils though. Massive!

Very nice. Thats amazing low with 35s. I got the truck a little lower with its 3 link.

What steering setup do you have? modified stock pump?

theking
11-17-2008, 10:58 PM
Thanks Barry. I ended up making tabs to come up off the tie rod for the drag link. Cheaper than high steer and works it great. Puts the track bar in a perfect spot. Only thing was I clocked and welded the tie rods to keep the tie rod from turning at all. I didn't trust those jam nuts.

You have any pics of that Hardbody v2.0?

320# i would have thought would be a little stiff, but i am not too surprised. i am running 220 now and they are way too soft. granted my rig is probably heavier, but i can't for sure. i have been wanting to replace my front springs and i have been planning to go with something between 275-300.

glad to hear its working well.

Nice rig!

Thats a great idea for the steering. I hate reaming those tres. I finally made a jig. I just reamed a yota pitman for chevy tres. The yota aftermarket pitmans are longer than nissan.

Here is some pix of the d21 3link. ver 2.0. I just installed one shock tower tonight. One more to go and its test drve time. The exhaust was a major project. The high steer seams to clear.

I was reading about you and your brothers pathys in 4wheel and offroad reader rigs magazine today. Pretty cool. you need to send new pix since your brothers is now 3 linked and your new one.
