Just wondering how important the shims are. Mine have wore out and are rubbing on the hub.
thanks

I took mine off when I was having my problem and have not had any problems yet.

The shims are for noise. If using aftermarket pads, the noise might be louder. If using Nissan pads, or pads designed to be quiet, then you might be able to get away without using them.
I always use the shim pack, also known as brake hardware, with my brakes.

My shims are almost toast too, but other than from nissan I've never known where to get the right ones from (and I shudder to think what nissan might charge for a funny-shaped piece of 20ga steel).

The kit also comes with new pieces where the pads rest as well. Probably be able to get it cheaply through Courtesy.

Depends on the part #. Apples and oranges, just make sure you're getting everything in either kit.
