since my first wheelin trip i have been havin electrical issues, and its getting worse.
on the way home from the first outing my door open lite was on coupled with my dome light being on. jumped out all my door switches and still the door open lights on. a couple weeks later my tach is on the fritz. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, and sometimes it dances all over the place. couple weeks after that my starter goes out. i found a cut wire from the battery to my starter and the loose connection, i assume, killed the solenoid. i dont think its related but i figured id throw it in the mix. now tonight my radio doesnt work nor does my rear defroster.
all fuses ok. searched for loose/cut wires and have found nothing. checked for fuseable links in the door and tach curcuit but found none.
what yall think? im kinda lost right now and i wanna try to figure it out because it started as an inconvienence(with the door open lite) and now its becomming worrysome. now im thinkin "whats gonna fail next?"
Thanks

If your door is ajar, try screwing it shut. :D j/k
As for the dome light and door ajar warning, check the rear hatch. That is a common problem in Pathys. I am pretty sure there is a fix write-up for it in the How-To forum on nissan4wheelers.com

Res thanks for that man i didnt realize the rear door was in the equation since the rear tire carrier had a dummy lite....but the tire carrier isnt the same as the door huh ???
could it be just a coincidence with these other electrical failures? it was raining pretty good today so ill venture out tomorrow with my meter and try to figure out my stereo/defrost problem......any insite on the tach? where should i start? wheres the tach sensor tied into? im assuming the ECU.
Thanks

Here is the write-up by Datz510. http://nissan4wheelers.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3766078435/m/3316035535?r=3316035535#3316035535
I doubt that the dome light has anything to do with the other problems.
Yes, teh tach signal comes from the ECU. The ECU gets the signal from the wire loom that runs to the distributors/coils. Check the big gray connector on that section of harness for looseness or corrosion.
Considering the newest problems, though, I am wondering if you just have some crappy connections in the dash.

Sometimes, turning sharply, my dome light comes on and my door open ding starts up. My door is loose though, the pin in it is just old. It used to be a lot worse. I've had a voltage regulator go out and my starter. I haven't had many issues other than that though. Radio works, and 2 lines of my defrost works, which pisses me off >_<

I saw on TV once that you could buy some stuff to repair bad defrost lines on rear windows. It's basically a thick gloppy conductive paint that you use to bridge the sections where the original lines lost continuity. The problem is, I haven't seen it in a parts store (I dunno where in the store it would be) and I always forget to ask when I'm there.

Hmm. I'll ask next time I am at a parts store too.

3 out of 4 solved. thanks a lot for that link Res, that was the problem. i put a washer under the latch and no more door open lite now .
defrost plug wiggled loose from the button on the dash.
radio apparently just died so i put in a new one. it was a POS anyway. the rat bastard ate my new atreyu CD . i may have to disect it in a bit to try to recover my property :saw:.
took out the instrument cluster and checked all connections and everything is good there. buttoned it back up and the tach started working properly but it didnt take it long to dance all over the place. no loose or corroded connections. looking in the FSM now for a starting place. seems like a resistance problem somewhere....
