You know, I haven't been to any of those on a long time. I'm open for a January run. I'll have to get the rig on the road and wear all of my coats. :D

I ran Eagle Rock today with a group of jeeps...I had both lockers on most of the day and there were many places it took 2-4 trys to get up.
http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=137339
In January....I wouldn't think it would be doable for anyone without a locker. But I have no idea if it stays snowed in or not.
Alpine Spirit

Yeah Eagle Rock will be shut down before to long depending upon the snow that falls there.

Post a date and i'll see what I can do. If there is enough time I can prolly get the time off.

I'd love to. I am going on semester break here soon, so between about December 9th through about January 20th would work for me with enough plans ahead of time. I don't have lockers, or even a LSD, so if you more experienced guys think I wouldn't be able to make it on, per-say, China Wall, lemme know :)

Last I heard for china wall you don't need sliders. Is that correct? I heard for Old Chinaman's Gulch that you do?
Always need sliders! In snow they could help too - if you slide a bit they might stop you from denting the side if you slide into a tree or something - never know, but I'd rather have them than not, on any trail.

China Wall if you take the Bypasses you do not need sliders.
Chinamans Gulch Sliders are a good idea.

I got a pretty good dent on China Wall last winter, but I was trying a line that I shouldn't have. I dented the other side this summer trying the same line backwards.

Ok so as of right now this run will be
China wall
Jan 3rd or 4th (first weekend of Jan)
Open to all 4x4 vehicles stock and up, all makes/models(within reason no subaru forsters:D )
I think China Wall will be the best trail as far as it's stocker friendly with some good obstacles for the modified guys.
The tentative time will be 10:00 from the trailhead, and lunch at the top of the wall. Everyone is welcome.
Any other suggestion let me know.

I think there's a better way to get there from Denver. However, I moved the route to go through Bailey and it still said 105 miles. I had thought it was about 80 from Denver. I just checked mapquest and it's coming out the same. I like China Wall and it's an easy trek from the Springs.
Is there still any discussion of Slaughterhouse? Will that be easier for folks? I just want to see a snow run with a good turnout. Also consider riding with another member if you don't want to spend the gas.

LMAO. Still have the mallet!
How did the t-bar anchor snap?
Since I'm looking at buying some sway-aways.
Ditchfinder

you will not have the same problem with your X the older pathys used smaller anchors with small splines. Snap was not the word I should have used the splines actually spin out. the sway away ride good but I have noticed they make the truck kind of float a little on the highway .

Snow shouldn't be an issue if conditons are as night in armor is saying - the real fun stuff would be ice.
If there is deep snow, that would be an issue as well.
JeffW
12-31-2008, 08:18 AM
...If there is deep snow, that would be an issue as well.
Deep snow shouldn't be too bad as long as the guys with the big tires get it busted up first. The only real worry would be ice on off-camber or steep stuff. I thinkit'll be fine for everybody.
I don't think there's too much off-camber stuff on this trail but there's the hill down and the hill up. Going down ice seems to work but that going up ice just doesn't work as well.
Weather for Bailey is saying snow showers from Thursday through Tuesday.

Sully4x4
12-31-2008, 11:08 AM
There are a couple of off-camber parts. One in particular I remember, I hated it =P. That would would be an issue with snow/ice, as if you roll, you go down into the creek.
Ryan Gee

Looks like I'm going, There's a loaf n jug off 285 before we before the drive back to the trail head, I cant remember the CR road that it's on, I think it was CR43. Those in the Denver would want to meet somewhere before 285, we could meet at the Tipsy liquor store off of C-470 and Bowls.
Yeah if anyone in Denver area wants to meet up, let's figure out a time and I'll meet up with you guys there.

I did run it part way yesterday in 4 hi and no airing down.
Thanks Bobof and Ryan for the pics. There is a lot more snow on the trail than here at the house only a few miles away.
The trial has been traveled extensively and varies from clear to hard pack ice.
I met a pair coming out in a heep chicadee with the pasenger side trashed. They said they didn't do the damage that day, but also said the off camber places were, "icy and gnarly, dude".
Some places have a lot of snow but it's been gone through. More snow may fall tomorrow though which would be great.
Depending on kids work schedule hope to make this run.
Later all!

How about 9:00 to 9:15 and go from there, that way if somebody wants to meet somewhere off 285 let us know.

Tipsey's is a rather large liquor store at the Bowles exit for C-470. Easy place to find, and very close to the C-470/285 junction. We plan to meet at Tipsey's and then travel together to the Bailey Loaf-n-Jug.

I think Tipsy's would be a great place to meet. BTW I don't have a front tow hook right now is that going to be a problem? Is there something else we can pull on from the front if necessary?

For Denver people, I thought Tipsy would be a good place to meet and then be at the near Loaf N jug near Baily by 10:00 for the final meet, before going to the trail head.

You don't have a good chance of making it by 10 if you're meeting in Castle Rock at 9. The folks at Tipsy's will be a half an hour ahead of you. I recommend meeting them directly or leaving CR by 8:45 and driving straight.

It takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to get there from where I live, CR is about 20 miles away from me, so I'd say 8:30 if you wanna be there by 10.
