How far is Slaughterhouse from Denver and C-Springs?

About 55 or so from Denver. So add 30 miles from C Springs to China Wall, maybe less?

I voted slaughter house just cause it's closer, but whatever.

I voted China Wall, but will probably attend either venue.
EDIT:
It's only 82 miles from the Springs if you go through Trumbull, CO.

Closer would be better, but I'm open for either. (If I'm back in town in time for the run...)

Sorry to hear that James. I chose Slaughterhouse but it may be too cold for my old ass.

Still getting G.I bill so, I am thinking I might be fine. As of now, still in. Slaughterhouse or me, because I have never ran it.
P.S.-Jarod, you have your stock fenders?

No the only fenders I have are the ones off the bed, but they are in pretty bad shape.
BTW the GI bill is nice. Did you convert to the new one?

You don't have to, but it pays a lot more if you qualify. I think you have to have 3 years active duty after 9-11.

Pending on the weather I might still be in.

Poll closed. Looks like it will be Slaughterhouse Gulch. Cool I haven't ran this trail before so if anyone has what would be a good time to start, and how long is it?

Ian and I ran it in May and it took us maybe 2/3 hours. It was snowing/sleeting when we were running it. And it was more or less rain than snow. I did it with no sliders and a 3" BL with 32's. It's definitely a stock-able trail. Check it out on traildamage.com.
Odin, I dunno if winches would be necessary. If there is a ton of snow, which there might not be.
Well if there is a lot of snow, there's a few areas where I don't think you could get up without a winch or someone winching you up...really depends on the snowfall.
Well...unless you like shoveling that is :D

Actually I'm wondering why y'all think the trail is even gonna be open. It only takes about 6-8 inches of snow to make that trail completely undrivable, and I'm guessing it's way deeper than that right now. Unlike china wall, there's a gate on slaughterhouse that the forest service can close.
Jeremy would be able to tell us for sure, since he lives a couple miles from the trailhead.
I know they got a ton of snow up in that area a while back - doubt it all melted. From what I have read...that was why I was asking who had a winch.

I honestly have never been there. Someone asked for a different trail than last year so I did the poll. If Slaughterhouse is closed China wall will be the second choice.
edit...
There is a group running Slaughterhouse gulch from CO4x4 on the 26th. That will be a pretty good indicator of the trail condition.

looking online, everything i can find says the trail is open all year. saw a report from someone who ran it last year on january 5, it was open all the way through except the mud pits. as i recall, we had a fair amount of snow last year too.

A trip down into the lower parts of that trail might make for a long day getting out.
