if no one knows on this site you may want to try 4x4parts.com. There are alot of people who know what they are talking about. But watchout 60 percent have no clue....

are the '03 and '02 similar? If so I could tell you exactly what to do.

Ok, forgive the crudeness.
Before you start, to make life easier on yourself, set the parking break and move the shifter as far from the console as you can. Will give you more room to work.
The hardest part is getting the vent off. #1 & #2 on the picture are the locations of those clips. You need to use something slim to get between the dash and the vent. I used a flathead screwdriver taped with electrical tape to avoid scratches. I pushed the screwdriver back far enough and basically had to pry the vent out.
#3 & #4 are two screws that you remove and gently pull away the center console cover.
#5 - #8 are the approx locations of the screws for the stereo.
Once you have those removed you just unplug the stereo, wire in the new harness and mount the stereo.
I just took it easy and went slow so I didn’t damage anything. I hope I didn't miss anything. After you get past the vent, it's pretty easy.
Hope this helped.
If your friend wants to do new speakers and has the Bose system... I would recommend that If you want to stay friends you should tell her to take it to a pro. It's a horrible, painful process.

If at any point you unplug anything related to the airbags, even a stupid indicator light, you might end up setting a sticky error code that'll make your SRS idiot light on the dash blink until you do the magic tapdance to clear the error. If it happens, your airbags will still work, it's just annoying.
I think you can avoid the whole problem if you have the negative cable off the battery for the whole time you're doing the work and don't reconnect it until you've got the airbag lights and stuff plugged back in.
(I don't have personal experience with any of this, just read about it on a lot of forums over the years in relation to installing stereos in Nissans.)
