View Full Version : Valve noise? - Engine ticking sound

I reciently had a set of Pasesetter headers installed on my 92 V6 Pathfinder. At the same time I had an oil relocation kit installed (greddy makes one that fits, and it was the same price as the others...)

I am now hearing a lot of what i think is valve noise. Its a ticking sound under throttle from 1500 rpm through about 3000. Its still there above 3000 just not as loud.

Is this normal for headers to cause an increase in valve noise?
Is this due to the possible reduced oil flow from the relocation kit?
Maybe the headers were installed wrong (bad gasget, or no gasget used?)

Any advice or experience is appreciated.

Matthew

knowing pacesetter headers, i would guess you have a header leak, and you are hearing that as opposed to the valves. especially if it under throttle and not as bad at idle. my valve click is way louder at idle.

PackMan - Header leak as in the welds in the headers sucks?

What issues have others had in the dept of pasesetter headers?

Thank you for the info. I will focus on that to get it fixed....

Any advice on what gasget brand to use?

from a quick search at nissan4wheelers, people seem to recommend the oem nissan gasket.

they usually leak at the runners or they leak at the gasket you may want to have them planed. (machined) as they may not be true you can use a straight edge and a feeler gauge anything over 0.05mm and they are warped just like a cylinder head there is a easier way double gasket them sometimes that work also re-torque the bolts they may have loosened up hope some of the info helps. I will send you cash this week for the oil cooler thanks again.
