i have decided to keep my 95 as my DD/light trail truck and SAS 1 of the following because the 95 has 117K on the motor and less than 5K on the tranny and it really hasnt been beat up much.

ok well i now have a motor+manual tranny from a wrecked '92 that has 140K on it. also i have a '87 manual tranny with a couple thousand on it. the plan is to put the '87 tranny on the '92 motor and put it in either my old '92 4 door or my '87 2 door.

the swap into my '92 4 door will be quick and easy. yea it was an auto but ill just swap out the ECU from the wrecked '92 to solve the wiring issues when you go from auto to manual. easy swap

the '87 2 door swap is gonna be different. i think i will have to take the wiring harnesses from the 92 and put it in the 87 since the 87 was throttle body injected and the 92 is multi-port. the old motor is just bolted in and the tranny is already removed. also i will probably swap in the instrument cluster from the 92. how much rewiring is entailed in this motor swap? is it pretty easy?

thanks for any help and your input in advance!!!

take the Patrol frame that's in Pete's yard and put the running gear from the wrecked one in it.

nevermind...just saw you're in VA

for the 87, it would be easier to swap just the long block (block and heads) so you don't have to rewire anything. keep the TBI manifold and 87 wiring harness, will be way easier. unless you really want the MPFI, then nevermind.

is MPFI noticeably better than TBI? is it worth the time to rewire the truck? what are the major benefits of MPFI as far as performance. not worried about MPG since this will be solely a trail truck and soon to be a trailer queen.

also is the wheelbase of the 2 door shorter than the 4 door? if so anyone have the measurements of both just for my own knowledge???

Go with the two door!

Not having the rear door helps in the cutting department....

plus they look way better!!!
