Did anyone here in Colorado make there own DOM tie rod and drag link when they SAS'ed their truck?

If so did you buy the lefthand and righthand tap's or just pay a shop to do it.

I would like to borrow the taps if anyone has them.

I made one with heim joints... 3/4-16 thread tapped style. The latest style was with the 1 ton tirod and 7/8-18 threaded inserts.

I have a set of taps.. however they have been loaned out for 6 months.. I need to call him. They are the 3/4-16 size L&R....

These are really nice... and easy!!! http://www.spidertrax.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.1284/.f

yes spidertrax is my backup plan.

For safety reasons I'm trying to avoid the welded insert....not that it will fail on the highway at 70mph, but....

I had All Phase Offroad build mine.

Most shops are using the inserts now. The threads in the inserts are mo-betta. The DOM tubing is fairly soft....

Yep that is what they built for me just for that reason. The welded in ends were extremely harder than the tubing itself.

i used welded inserts in mine. the inserts have the threads rolled into them, makes for stronger threads as opposed to cutting. plus, they are less likely to be loose from the tap moving a little as you thread it in.
