A bill is being proposed that would ban tires larger than OEM on all vehicles in Oregon.
The bill is primarily focused on aftermarket tires and would authorize the Environmental Quality Commission to implement enforcement regulations, likely based on a rolling resistance calculation.
H.B. 2186 provides broad authority to government regulators and could limit a range of aftermarket parts currently available to consumers based on the subjective determination of government regulators.
H.B. 2186 could prohibit aftermarket parts designed to either personalize or optimize specific vehicle performance attributes including handling, towing, suspension, fuel economy, etc.

A PDF of the bill (http://landru.leg.state.or.us/09reg/measpdf/hb2100.dir/hb2186.intro.pdf)
There was a meeting today about this. I haven't heard how it went.
Sorry Oregonians.:(

not just larger, but anything that isn't OEM installed. so if yer rig came with bfg long trails, you would never be able to install muds or AT's even of the same size.

The wording of it gives it a chance.
SECTION 4. This 2009 Act being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2009 Act takes effect
on its passage.
When you say it is for safety and peace, and that this is an emergency people freak out.

Only if it passes. Flood the inboxes of state senate and house first...then if/when it passes accost the governor.
All the emails probably just go straight to spam anyway....

"anyway"
You gotta be more careful if you are to be a nazi.
And this bill is horse shit. Not to go too off topic, but does anyone know what happened with the registration of vehicles and the price being $1 per cubic inch of engine? I think it was something like that, where cars with 1.9L engines were void of that law, but those at 2.0 and up had to pay?

State lawmakers in oregon don't care (nor should they) about what a bunch of people in colorado think. They can't listen to coloradans, they don't represent us. Flooding their mailboxes with opinions that don't matter just makes it harder for them to read the ones they should be listening to. Those coming from residents of oregon.

this bill is a bnch of BS. It would affect a ton of retailers. A lot of jobs could be in jeopardy.

And to top it off 50cc motorcycles marketed to kids under 13 are about to be banned.

If it passes, we should all go to Oregon and parade around the capital. Their laws do not apply to out of state vehicles, but it starts the slippery slope.

Great isn't it?!
I don't see it happening either. Oregon is home to one of the PNW mainstays Les Schwab, and I doubt they want to see that moving out.
The wackjobs that run this state are capable of anything, a couple of years ago they changed the state motto from "The Union" to "She Flies With Her Own Wings". While this is really of no consequence, it gives you a little insight as to the mind set in the Oregon legislature. If it has anything to do with "green" or "global warming" they are falling all over themselves to be the first defenders of PC in line...ruck me funnin'
