I decided to pick up one of ARB's small locker-dedicated air compressors to run the locker, instead of using my Powertank. I only know of one other 2nd gen X that has installed the new M226 locker and compressor, and it was the first unit that ARB sent to anyone in the U.S. (Rugged Rocks Offroad). The shop that did that install mounted the compressor on top of the plastic fuse box on the passenger side of the engine compartment. That works great, I'm sure, but I wanted to mount my compressor in the cab so it would be a little more sheltered from the elements.
Mounting the compressor underneath the passenger seat seems like a pretty common spot, and there's certainly enough room under our passenger seats. The compressor comes with a flat mounting plate with 4 holes pre-drilled in it. Instead of drilling holes through the tub I decided I would have it welded to the floor. I removed the seat and cut away some of the carpet. Conveniently there's about an 8" square area just below the seat where Nissan decided not to use that silicone bead material (sound deadening?) that they use almost everywhere else on the body interior. I had my fab shop weld some small tabs to the edge of the mounting plate, and then weld the tabs to the floor so that the mounting plate sits about 1" off the floor. Hit it with a little bit of paint and bolted the compressor in.

Here's a shot with the seat back in. I still need to install the solenoid and run the air line and switch wiring, but there's plenty of room and it should be pretty clean when I'm all done. I'll also need to zip-tie the wiring for the airbag sensor up and out of the way so that the loom doesn't touch the compressor when it warms up.
