I have an old tankless compressor that I want to hardwire into the rig as OBA. My question is how(if possible at all) do I hard wire something that is designed to be plugged into a standard 110 outlet? I dont wish to purchase an inverter or I may as well buy the Smittybilt OBA compressor for $60.
I have some small spare tanks that I plan to mount underneath where the stock tire mount was.
Thanks.

Well that right there is your answer. You can run a big ass inverter or put a new motor in the compressor which would cost much more than it is worth. Find a different compressor is my best advice.

yeah. without an inverter or wizzardry.....you'll never get 12V to run anything 110V

Fair enough. I think I will just buy the Smittybilt MV50 like I had originally planned. It claims to be hardwire compatible, does anyone know if I would still need an inverter?

You can also pick up that MV-50 compressor at pep boys. I had one go bad because I was using it to fill a tank to 90psi for the ARB.
They replaced it and now I just use them to fill tires to no more then 30-50psi...I have had no other problems. I would recommend it for tires but not higher pressure items.
With two I can fill all 4 37's from 10-12 psi to 30psi in less then 10 minutes (including getting them out and putting them away). With my CO2 bottle it takes about the same amount of time.
Anyway to answer your question it would not be hard to mount and wire them in.
