Ready for GONE?

I still have a few things to do. Mainly just getting my last skid plate put on. Hopefully that will be done tonight.

I cut into my fenders and pounded on them some last night to fix the tire rubbing issues.

I think the skid is all I have left to do, besides pack everything up and making some trips to the store for various things.

I haven't done anything I wanted to my truck. Other than two new tires it's the same as it was on the winter run.

I had to replace the pass side oil seal on my front diff yesterday. In order to get the internal axle shaft out, i either had to A) drop the diff or B) cut off the bump stop plate as it was in the way. I chose to cut off the plate. So, I got the seal replaced and just got done welding on a new plate. Time to give her a coat of rattle can and put it all back together. Other than that, I just have to pack.

I Just finished installing the 60" chevy leafs and fixing a few small (but possible pain in the ass on the trail) issues I noticed on the once over.

I Have one bent caliper bolt I am heading to the yard to replace, and then I need to figure out my winch power issue. May even have time to replace the lights the local thieving bastards took.

What will not get done is the front shock redesign, front bump stop installation and front leaf replacement....guess that will happen over the summer.

Got a few small things taken care of today and got the Xterra cleaned up. I just have to sort through my tools and photo stuff and pack it up.

This is my favorite trip of the year. I have a Moab newbee coming with me this year. One of the things I did was to tighten down the hand hold point above the passenger side door. I have feeling it's going to get a workout this week. :D

See you in Moab!

Doug

You still planning on running shocks while in Moab or are you putting on the BillMatics? :D

With the new rear springs and rotated axle I think I have cured the bottom the rear shocks out on every bump problem....so no billmatics this year.

The sad thing is that with the chevy springs it doesn't seem to flex nearly as well as it did with the jeep springs...I guess it's going to be a work in progress.

What chevy springs are you using

Bill Potter

Ended up with the 60 inch mid 90's yukon springs with one leaf removed. With the shorted rear it's going to take more effort to get the 63/64 pickup springs to fit.

The problem has to do with the fact that the leafs in the chevy packs are thicker then the waggy packs. So even with the extra leafs added to the waggy packs to get the height correct they still flex much better.

I suspect I will call alcan after the rear weight is set....just do not see the point until then.

Maybe we can cook up some BillMatic springs while we are in Moab. We will need a few more pizza boxes to pull it off. :D

See you in Moab!
