So,
I have a 2002 Xterra supercharged, 78k miles.

Last weekend went to go hit up a trail, started the truck and while backing out and the Nissan died. Started it up again with no problem. Now I drove about a mile down the road and the engine cut out sharply. Turning the motor over for a restart did nothing.

First thing I did was pull a spark plug wire to check for spark and nothing, no spark at all.

All the fuses are good.

Called up Nissan dealer and asked if there is a security feature that would kill the spark, they said 'no'.

I have replaced the distributor and ignition module.

And still nothing! and now I am out of ideas (I hope it's not the computer).

Does anyone know what else to check? Also does anyone in Colorado Springs have a factory manual that I can borrow for troubleshooting procedures?

Thanks for any help.
-Ryan:)

Correctly timed?

-Haven't changed it since it crapped out.

Crank P sensor might be bad!!!

-Good point, that might be next thing to check, but don't don't those go bad gradually instead of suddently? No check engine light so it's hard to tell.

I would think that sensor would also throw a code too. And would it actually prevent spark all together? I'm not sure what all it controls.

I replaced the P sensor and it started right up. Oh! and my check engine light stays on all the time

I almost wish I had a check engine light, at least it would give me some clue!

Again, Anyone have a manual I can borrow?

Thanks

Still throwing the same code? Could try clearing the code with a battery disconnect and reconnect and see if it shows again?

It might be the battery make sure all connectiong are securely fit and your battery is fully charged. This happened to me a while ago and my power on my battery just wasnt securely tightned all the way.
