I was thinking about getting a tube bumper done for me Xterra. I like Max's tube bumper alot. Does any one know of a place that can custom tube bumpers? I tried this place in colorado springs called Armorology, great shop and was quoted $1000 dollars for a tube bumper to be done. I would like to go a little cheaper? Any Ideas?

Thanks Russ

Armorology makes some crazy stuff. I've talked with Jed quite a few times and really admire the guy. He isn't the normal kind of fab shop guy (not trying to be a d#$#, just from my experience) that a lot of guys in the field aren't very professional. He seems to be one of the best and really does some awesome work. If I hadn't just formatted my HD 10 minutes ago I'd dig up all the old emails. At first I was pissed because I didn't hear back from him after the first email for 3 days. Then I got a nice personalized email that was 2 pages long. It sounds like the majority of the time and work in his goes into the mounting system (look at the pictures on his website) and the rest of it (all the tube) is just the simple stuff he can put together "quickly". :D

That said, I've considered selling the ARB in favor of something lighter weight. Hmmmm.....

And Max..you bought a tubing bender!?

Cameron you had a good experiance with bullhide... Before my sas I had each shop in FTC fix szomething for me to test them out. I gave bullhide my winch to rebuild, and was miserably let down. It tokk them one month and they took it apart on the first day before they even had the parts. After three weeks i came in to see what was going on they led me into the back and showed me a cardboard box. It was just thrown in the box screws bolts everywhere i've never seen such a sloppy operation. Ft collins 4x4 also miserably failed but i won't get into that...And I understand you may have had a great experiance but i was overcharged and waited way too long for the simple task I put them up to. Back to the topic A good DOM tube bumper should be able to hold the entire weight of your truck (suspended in mid air) so yes they are incredibly expensive.

The second pic is showing how the top support bar is tied into the shock hoop then the frame. I just looked up what they charged me $540.00 so yes they are expensive.

Cameron...where did you get yours built? Bullhide? Any more pictures of it? I saw pictures awhile back and it looked good, but the price sounds nice.

Funny how this topic was posted yesterday. I am now in the market for a tube bumper as well. It was the damn bumper that was cutting my winch rope when the spool got full.....

This is the bumper I wanted to get before Cameron sold me his calmni. I still might have one like this built some day because I really like the look.

Thanks to everyone for the ideas.

Went by XE today and DAMN. That place has some NICE rigs. Like Ben said it's just about all jeeps, but I think I had the only vehicle there on something smaller than 44s. They had a Dynatrac 60 there which was the first time I'd ever seen one...looks awesome.

I gave the guy there some pictures and he told me he'd look at them and give me a call. Funny how I couldn't just email the pictures because they needed to have mine there "to look at" but never even bothered to look at how it's mounting up. I'll be interested to see what he calls me back with for a quote.

Heard back from XE today. Waaaay more expensive than I had thought it would be, but those guys sound like they know what they're doing. I dropped off those pictures I posted earlier and they were going to do a design like that, while plating all the gaps between the tube.

The guy that I spoke to on the phone was great...he understood that it was a newer model vehicle and that I don't want it to look like crap. The only problem is they want $1300 for the bare steel or $1550 powdercoated.

with all the talk about tube bumpers i decided to make my own...i got this far todayhttp://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d74/bama16/Picture005.jpg

my cost so far is about 90 bux...and that's for the steel....i'll just paint it up now and PC later....coming along alright...it would be nice to have a better bender than the hydraulic one i have...but it gets the job done....this one should hold up to snow banks a bit better than that plastic one...everytime it touched something i'd find another part of it flappin in the windhttp://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d74/bama16/Picture006.jpg

constructive criticism from anyone would be nice...i'm gonna plate some of the holes...i don't want the washer bottle to get broken from a rock hittin it...the stinger part will be filled too...some lights are goin in it along with a sheet of aluminum...stinger is a bit big but it's all i could do with the bender i have.
