Will Gen 1 Xterra halfshafts work on a '97 Pathy?

Oh yeah, what IFS parts are you selling? I've been wanting to pick up a few extra trail spare parts.

I don't think so. They are different part numbers on www.autozone.com. Either one of them is only $100 though so they're not that expensive. They may well be the same part, just with a different spline count.

nope, same spline count but the length of the outer shaft that goes into the spindle is different.

Beware of those $100 cv assemblies from auto stores, the shafts they use are not as beefy as the nissan oem shafts. I went to get one and the shaft was noticibly thinner than my broken one. I decided that was a Bad Idea and didn't buy it. Instead I bought Cameron's assemblies after his SAS, then took them to Denver Driveline to have them rebuild the CV joints but reuse the original shafts.
