Well finally got to take my new ride out for the first full shake down run and she did not disappoint.
Starts off like this and in this order.
Get to the trail head and see this on my buddies Comanche's rear tire.

The run:

and then the fun began.
Started off with breaking the spider gears in the white TJ. Sorry no real pics of that. About 60 yards down the trail the Cherokee loses all gears but reverse. So I hook up the 4 banger YJ to the TJ and assist it so we can get the Comanche which has 4.88 and ARBs F/R to pull her up the last 100 yards of ruts and a step hill. That's were the carnage begins.
Starts off innocent with a blown upper rad hose.

So we try to pull up the not so Grand Cherokee after replacing the hose but its too steep of a hill and no place to get traction so we call it a night and set-up camp for our first unplanned night on the trail.
Make a few phone calls and find out there is a group coming up in the morning that would be able to help us out. So we wait till then.
At least we have a nice view.

The recovery rig and a few of my friends posing for a pic.

So at this point we have everyone up on the access road. I take a trip to get my friends back to their cars and come back with another friend who brings his F-350 Diesel to tow the Cherokee out, we were worried about overheating the Comanche, and my 4 banger would not have had the power to flat tow on some of the hills to get out. We break down camp and the Comanche takes up the point position and starts rolling out. He gets about 25 yards and feels something weird in his front end, gets out and takes a look and sees this.

Upper and lower Ball joints are toasted, hub has about 1/4in of play in it, u joint is long gone, yoke on the axle shafts are paper weights, and his axle splines are twisted. So I get back into the YJ and make a trip to the nearby parts store and also to a friends house about 30 miles away to get an axle shaft.
Should be a craftsman ad.

We replace the BJs and go to put on the axle shaft but its the wrong one. So we call it a night and leave the Comanche on the trail and head home. Well the Grand Cherokee over heats his brakes so we ditch another rig on the trail for the night and get home. The next day we rent two tow dollies and get the last two rigs home.
