9/5:

Meet @ Ranger Station (Hwy 103 & I70) @ 10AM.

CB Channel 4

Those in Denver can meet and caravan up, I'll leave that up to you as I am camping up north and will be coming down the 119 into Idaho Springs to get there.

The plan is:

Cascade Creek to Ute Creek Road, connecting to Spring Gulch and then to Saxon Mountain summit, then back down Saxon Mountain into Georgetown.

This should be a fun and scenic trip. Cascade Creek has a hill climb that sounds fun. Also some old mines and such in the area that would be worth checking out.

Saxon Mountain is pretty mild, but scenic.

The connecting roads I don't think have much of anything on them.

9/6:

I am going to go to Loch Lomond to do some fishing. I figure I will be there around noon, maybe cook up some burgers for lunch and then fish. Come on up if you want, just let me know if I should expect ya. Again I'll keep on CB Channel 4.

No set meet time or anything so you're on your own to get up there.

there's really no parking at the trailhead. May I suggest you change your meeting spot to the NFS office at 103/70 - or there's a parking lot across the street from the NFS office. I'll be down south otherwise I'd join ya. Have fun.

Ok - air down there too you think? I haven't been to that trail before. Is there enough room once on the trail to air down?

no, it's a pretty tight trail. air down in the parking lot by the NFS. The trailhead is only a few miles up the road from there.

No, not really. Cascade trails (the further-most trail from I-70) immediately starts with a climb. We did it once in winter when it was snowed in, now that was fun. I can't imagine the first climb being all too challenging when dry. We did not get very far that time, only to where it was plowed, and all the way there it looked like a pretty narrow trail.

Odin I haven't done much lately in terms of off roading and getting up to the mountains, would love to tag along.

Is it stock friendly? If so I'll head up and do some fishing/camping

Loch Lomond is stock friendly. I've seen pictures where there were minivans up there. Here's info:

Cascade Creek is a bit harder. If you have rock sliders I'd think it would be okay with some spotting. There is a way around the harder hill on Cascade Creek which takes you to Ute Creek sooner and that would make the trail much easier. But it would leave you behind about a mile before we would be done. So as long as you'd be fine waiting for the rest of the group. It does say on trail damage that you can get to the hill and then turn around if it looks too sketchy but you'd have to be at the rear end or there isn't enough room.

Up to you - I have not personally done the trail so it's hard for me to recommend what a stocker can do on it - perhaps someone else could.

a stocker should be fine up there. for the "obstacle", a locker helps ALOT. If you don't have one, you will struggle.

Anyone?

I'm leaving tomorrow to camp - won't be able to check the site much if at all until that Saturday when I get into Idaho Springs.
