If you have an automatic there should be a plate where all the clutch accessories run through on a manual. This is on the Pathfinders anyway...

at first i thought you meant computer firewall and wireless access point. damn, i'm a dork.

anyway, there should also be a rubber grommet type deal where the main wiring harness goes through. you can stick a wire coat hanger through there to the side of the main harness and then pull the wires that you need through.

In the same boat here, Jamie :D

-------------------------------

There are two grommets at the firewall one each passenger and driver side...not the easiest thing in the world to find from the cab, but from the engine bay they're pretty easy to find.

on the same side as the battery. i did the coat hanger trick as well for my amp, cb ant. and extra lights.

Hey I got 4ga Wireing threw a rubber hole in the firewall and it came out on the kickpad of the pass side. It then is easy to feed along the ground under the carpet under the seat just unscrew the plastic screws on the plastic part. What Wireing/ HOw big of an Amp? I recomend getting a cap, as well as an aftermarket battery, I have a cap and a redtop, before i had those I would have my headlights almost turn off when bass hit.

not too big a fan of caps, there are a lot of misconceptions about them, and too many people think they add power to your system, which they do not. if your lights are dimming, then your charging system is inadequate, all a cap will do is mask that problem. once the cap is discharged (under a second) it then becomes a drain on your system, requiring more power from the charging system to recharge the cap, which will make your lights even dimmer. in the right circumstances, a cap is ok, but the right circumstances are few and far between.

im not putting that much bass in just one ten in a custom box powered by a 300 watt rockford i think im going to try and do it myself this weekend but one other question i want to use my stock head unit is there anything i should know before attempting this. i do know i have to splice in audio inputs for the amp ill just splice those into the rear speakers but i appreciate the input

so, you have a line-level convertor? you'll need a remote turn on lead, typically from the head unit but since it is stock, you'll have to get it from some other switched source.

Car stereos are really easy to wire once you get the hang of it.. U have pos wire, neg wire, remote turn on and rca's. You should think about getting a new headunit, the stock one puts out like no power at all for your speakers, and it makes it quite a bit easier to control your bass, rather then spliceing into the rear speakers with your Rca's.
Just trying to help

I suspect most of the problems people try to solve with caps could be solved better and cheaper by upgrading the power wiring, especially the battery-to-chassis ground, and also by cleaning all the existing ground connections.

You dont have to spend 1000 for a dvd player.. I got a really good deal on mine and its touchscreen and worked great.. around 500..

agreed, and to add, the alternator is what makes the power, if you don't have enough you need a bigger alt.
