Is anyone using Nissan 15" Alloy rims with their wagoneer axles?
Did you have to grind the calipers in order for them to fit without rubbing?

I have 35" MT/R's on pathy 6 spoke 15"x7" alloys that I'd like to keep using after I SAS the truck (i.e. why replace em if I can reuse em?)

If they won't clear the calipers, then I have a set of 17" S/C rims that I'll have to pick up a set of 35's for.

Any info is appreciated!! :wave::D
Thanks!

im pretty sure the back spacing is wrong for stock Nissan wheels to fit a Waggy 44.

If i remember correctly you wont be able to fit them on because of the steering arms interfering.

probably doesn't help that I'll be cutting down a F250 HP44 and using waggy outers on it. So I won't need wheel spacers (adapters) that most people with waggy axles need.

Do you think the 17's would clear it?
And do you have any pix of where it would hit?

Thanks

At the tierod. My rims are 15x8 with 3.75" bs and just barely clear.

Why not just pick up some cheap 15" wheels that work?

Nope, Well not with out spacers. They will hit the calipers first, beyond that I dont know.

damn...that sucks
I was hoping to keep my pathy rims.
I really liked the way they look on my truck.
Not a big fan of having the tires stick way outside of my truck.
Thus the massive amounts of trimming.

BTW.. Don't know if it matters..
I'm going with SUA SAS with 1 ton steering.
Not hi-steer.. I don't know if that matters either.

Well, since the stock 15's won't work, do you think the 17"x8", 5.5" BS S/C rims would work?

Thanks for the responses.

17's may be wide enough to clear it.

I tried running the stock rims with 1.5" wheel spacers. They were okay with the 31" tires I had on there. When I upgraded my DD tires to 33" AT's, the weights hit the tie-rod end. I ended up buying the US Steel 15" rims with 4.75" of back spacing. They work great and they are cheap from Summit.

cragar rims are $40 a piece from summit as well

I just had that issue with nissan 16" wheels. They don't clear the steering arms. It has nothing to do with the calipers. Nissan has a rediculous backspace that doesn't let it clear.

With all the C4C trucks hitting the JY you should be able to get a set of wheels from their. My buddy just got a set of matching black rock crawlers in perfect condition from the local yard for $15ea.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I was really hoping to stick with Nissan rims, but I guess it's not possible.
I'll just pick up a cheap set of AR-767's or rockcrawlers if I need to.

IIRC: Carlton from XOC was running the Nismo 16" rims with his Calmini SASed Xterra (waggy axle) with 33's.
I would think that the 17" rims would clear it a bit better, but guess not if it would be hitting the steering.

The NISMO rims have a little less back spacing and Carlton is running wheel spacers in the front and you said you we're not running wheel spacers.

If you have stock 17's, they might clear. But the 16's were not even close. Grab one of the wheels and check it once you're axle is assembled. The let us know what you find out. I have not seen very many SAS Nissan's on 17's. The tires cost a lot more then 15's.

the 17 would clear the caliper, but I think you'd still have contact witht he steering arm.

Alrighty...
I'll be selling both sets of rims and getting a set of steelies.
Thanks guys!!

I won't be running wheel spacers because I'm having my F250 axle cut down 2.5" or so off the long side so I can run a waggy long side axle in it.
So it will be wider than a grand wagoneer axle, and won't require spacers to work.

As for cost of 17" tires.. I totally agree, they are pricey..
I was planning on getting a set of used 35x12.5-17 tires from the JK Jeep community since everyone goes to a 37 or larger over time. So prices aren't that bad if I looked for them.
Of course keeping my 15" MT/R's is the cheapest solution.
Glad to hear that steel 15's with 4.5" maximum backspacing will clear.
