Phoenix 2???
Maybe a different name? There is only one Phoenix & it belongs to Allen.

Agreed. Let there be only one Phoenix! Tube bumpers, tube doors, and a tube rear hatch. Keep the roof, but make a tube rack instead of the stocker.

Even better, full exoskeleton! No steel fenders. Incorporate them into the exoskeleton, along with the sliders and bumpers.

I'd definately reccomend keeping the roof. In retrospect, I should've found a way to do so with mine.
The tube doors are an excellent idea. I've been thinking of using some Jeep style of hinges, bolted to pieces of steel that would protrude from the stocker hinge area (bent to go by the trailing edge of the front fenders) and making some removable style of tube doors too. If I did that, then I'd make some canvas that would be either zippable or attatchable in some way to cover them for inclement weather.
I love the idea of making tube style front fenders as well. Poison Spyder makes 'em for Jeeps. Somthing along those lines would be fantabulous for an SAS'ed MaXterra! I can see you and I making some pretty sweet changes on our rigs. I just need to get some axles under mine in the near future!

first off im cleaning up the inside and getting ready to rhino line it... Then maybe some sort of waterproof flooring...? or just husky floormats front and rear.

Weld in some drain plugs so that when you need to you can just hose out the floor :D That's my favorite feature of the Wranglers (except of course the solid front axle).

If you're not keeping the roof, then do this before you cut and weld.
Weld in a piece that goes from the passenger's side to the driver's side B-Pillar. I didn't do this, and the passenger's side pillar leans out about 3/4" or so. It's not that noticeable to look at, but closing the front door is tight on that side.
Otherwise, I'd also cut off the back section at or above the rear window lower line. It's a lot less area to cap off. I originally cut mine that way, but then the guy that did my cage thought it would look better the other way (the way it is now). But when he did that, then capped it all off, the sheet metal got all heat warped over that large of an area, and I think it looks like ass. Mine may have been first, but it's not the prettiest it could have been.
These little things will make it look and function a lot better. Feel free to come up and check out the PhoeniX and perhaps MaXterra will turn out even better. You'll still be the younger brother though. Noogies will be the norm.

Max, get some Herculiner and use that for the interior. Dont even mess with the floor mats, they will hold in moisture when you get it wet inside. With the open roof, it will get wet inside. Like Tyler said, weld in some drain plugs, front and rear at the lowest points. I don't even plug mine up in the Heep. There is a guy on Colorado 4x4 . org that made tube door for his XJ, his name is Tom. His user name is Cruzin Illusion and he does some sick work!!!!

My boss Matt Black also has a tubing bender, plasma cutter and whatnot. He makes some sick fabwork on suspensions and doors as well.
I don't have drain holes in mine, and it's an open vehicle too. I have rubber floor mats and no liner for the floor.
I would like to suggest some sort of matting for the trans tunnel around the foot area. My feet get pretty hot in the summer. Even with a 3" body lift, the trans tunnel still gets warm. The stock carpeting has really good insulation around that area. You'll need to do something there if there's no carpeting.

Circle and I-25? heh.. right around the corner from me.. I work a compressed shift (3 12's one week, 4 12's the next) so I literally have half the week off. I've got a crappy welder and a sawzall..:bannana:
also have a hell of a collection of hammers.. got a mini forge out back, so I collect hammers for that, everything from sledges to smaller sledges, to brick hammers and a few body hammers, and.. :B&B: yeah.. lots of hammers.
If you want to go for tube doors, you might want to head to a JY and get good doors to hollow out. That way they might actually close.
