Is it the same as an HB or Pathy?
(besides gears)

splines are different. xterra has 33 if its the 233b and hb and the pathies have 31 if its the 233b, unless its an r50 which has 33 splines.

R50 and D/WD22 the same. I'm not sure about the D/WD21 though. They don't have the same part numbers. I'm not sure they'd bolt up. If someone had a newer 3rd and an older case laying around... or opposite...

This is what the Xterra one looks like:

oh any of the h233b 3rd members will bolt into any h233b housing regardless of what its out of. its just the splines that are different. and between 1989 and 1990 they housing went from 9 bolts to 11 bolts or studs, i cant remember for sure. but if you used an 04 xterra one on an 89 it would still fit, you would just ignore the 2 studless holes. and that link is the front diff, so now im confused on what your asking.

Yup. I'm asking about the front diff. Whether the entire front diff from an Xterra will fit in 95 HB.
Thanks for all the help so far, guys.

The front diff isn't a 3rd member design, hence the confusion :D

oh.. lol. well in that case, pretty much every front axle from 1990-04 will interchange. wd21 pathfinders, hbs, frontiers, xterras. that is if its the r200. some hbs and frontiers came with an r180 i think. but it mounts up the same. it wont interchange with an r50 as they have a high pinion front diff.

Yeah I guess not. But I guess I just call it that.
Thanks for the help, guys!

Hi Guys I'm needing a complete 4.9 Xterra or Frontier H233B rear axle. for the 3rd member and axles. Anyone on here have one/some? Or know of a junkyard that I can buy one. Will the 33 spline axles slide into a Hardbody/Pathy housing? Are they the right length?

Nope.. the 33 spliners are wider.
With the front axles... the outer flanges that bolt to the CV axles changed thoughout the years. No fity!

Can I swap the outer flanges between the r180 and the r200 ?
How different is the Xterra rear axle from the HB rear axle, both use leaf springs? How about distance drum to drum?
