Hey all, most of you know who I am but I'll go ahead and introduce myself anyway. My name's Trent and I live in Oregon and own/drive/sometimes wheel an '86.5 HB:

Anyhoo, I've been lurking here for quite awhile and figured I'd just go ahead and register. I've been reading a lot of the tech stuff posted here, and you guys have helped me immensely, even without knowing it. I'd be making it on the Ronin run this summer but have decided to go to Bonneville with my brother, however I'm planning to see you all in '08, hopefully with an SAS'd HB! Anyway, thanks for a letting me hang around on your forum!

It seems like a really cool thing you guys have going on here! Lots of nice people and good tech and awesome rigs! I've already learned a lot from several of you, on other boards and now here, and am looking forward to learning a lot more. I've noticed the maturity thing Ben mentioned and I'm on quite a few of the other boards, so you've probably seen me there as well. As far as the axles go Ryan, I thought I'd found myself a d44 with perches for SOA or SUA for $200 on a local forum, but the guy won't PM me back. However, Josh just picked up 2 D44s for $200 and said he'd sell me one, so I'll probably go that route.

I'm starting to collect parts to sas my truck, I found the limits of 33s and a lockright pretty quickly, so am on to the next step. I think I'll go SUA on 44044s with the Calmini hanger and shackles and some Trail Gear shock hoops. I'm going to try to set up the gears/locker in the 44 myself and think I'll go for a lock-right with 4.88s, just need to find a cheap set of 4.9s for the rear. However, I'm in college and I need to pay for that first, so truck parts will be coming in pretty slowly. Eventually I'll get it there, I'd be happy to hear criticism/input on my plans there, or anything else you'd like to share. Thanks again for letting me be a part of this awesome forum!

The 44044 Ranchos make your truck purdy big (4.90's may not be enough if you are thinking 37's). Your rig would look SWEEEET jacked up like the unit in my driveway. Here are some shock hoops off ebay for a reasonable price (CLICKY) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Build-your-own-Shock-hoop-kit-Helps-get-you-started_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33590QQhashZite m260080398526QQitemZ260080398526QQtcZphoto).

School tends to suck the pocket book dry. An SAS on a budget is a real test in patience. I can't wait to see you rig complete!!!

It won't be on 37s for a long long time, I was hoping for some regular width 33s (those are 10.50s in the pic), with just the 44044s SUA (no bl). Do you think they'll give enough lift I could run 35s SUA? I don't want to cut the crap out of my truck but I don't mind some trimming. Later on if I think I've found the limits of SUA I'll go SOA with high steer, but the truck's going to need to be DD-able most of the year, so I doubt it ever gets TOO extreme. What'd you do for driveshafts Ryan? And check your PMs too wouldja?

Raceway?

Bingo! we're trying to see if we can get his '65 Mustang into the 130 Club. It doesn't sound like much, but the engine isn't going to be all that special. I think the plan is to run a 5-bolt 289 with mostly 302 innards for 11:1ish compression, a big cam, and not much else. So we'll see

Cool...we used to run a 56 Bel Air there. I had a Dodge Daytona but never ran.
