I was just looking on the Team Xterra Racing forum and it looks like Dave (owner of the team) is having Precision Gear make gears, spools, and some locker options (or will push development of the spools and locker options)! I assume it's only for the D44ish rear end, and probably not the C200 rear end, yet. So what does this mean? Matching gear ratios for the typical D44/D60 etc...ratios and you don't have to lose all the bells and whistles by swapping out the rear axle as well.
The only thing I can think of is non-matching bolt patterns between the front and rear...but I bet if you ask Spidertrax or Poison Spyder nicely to make you up a set of adapters for the rear end they would do it.
:D

While it's great for the 2nd gen guys, it seems absolutely ridiculous that Precision Gear is thinking they'll be better off making stuff for the new Xterras than support the axles that have been around for the last 20 years.

While I agree with you there, Precision sees a market that is literally untapped. Not even Nismo (as far as I know) offers gears for the 2nd gen rear end. Not to mention it's being developed for a race team, so development for civilians tends to trickle down.
